    boost control.......yes or no

    hello

im attendint the rr day in febuary.

now i dont know what to do.

should i get a power read out before fitting a boost controller.

im just thinking of getting the car dyno'd and any problems that are found sorted and ironed out before i start upping the boost.

or do i just put a boost controller on and up it and pray nothing is wrong?

it will only be a MCB as i dont have the ££ for a EBC are EBC's in anyway better than a MBC in terms of controlling boost?

from what i gather im running a very healthy boost at moment in standard from 8-10 psi.

    many thanks

    Dan

If you are happy to set it up to 0.8 bar, (12 psi) then it should be ok. I've been running it on that for ages. You would need a boost gauge for that.

There are methods to setting it up by feel, watching out for rough running, or jerking as you hit boost cut but the view seems to be not to do this on this car. When i had a Saab i did it that way all the time...

You can get them to do multiple runs at varying boost levels
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

There's no reason why not, if your making good boost at the moment.... It might be worth checking you air filter and spark plugs though..... I'm running 15 psi at the moment with out issue.....

Good thing about the EBC's are they can control boost spikes quicker than a MBC,

Noticed this morning with 0 celsius outside that i was making 0.9 bar, that's 13.5 psi. Setting it when it's cold outside (not engine though!) at least avoids it hitting the limit....

TBH it's also worth changing the boost pipes, put Mikalor clamps onto the main pipes. That way less of the work the turbos have to do is wasted.
