Leather / Steering wheel refurb / re-trim.... Whos used these?

Following on from my thread discussing how crazy the price is for a new steering wheel from Mitsubishi, I attemped to get my red Super wheel de-greased & re-furbished. This all went drastically wrong so I have since been trying to track down a place to re-trim it.

I have only managed to find 2 places that are able to re-trim to the same standard that it left the factory (ie, black leather with red perforated leather, colour co-ordinated stitching & glued around the horns). The only thing that will be lost will be the horn symbols (which I am not bothered about).

The issue is, both places have sent me examples of their work, one is £260 & the other £120. As there is such a big difference, I am concerned about using the cheaper place as just seem too cheap.

Has anyone ever used either of these guys or what would you do. As I am mid process spending an small fortune on the car, I want it to be right, but also don't see the point in spending out for the hell of it.

PS, I am going to be getting this done within the next 2 weeks so will load up some before & after photos once complete as I am sure this will be of interest due to it being a common problem.

Why not ask the cheaper one what would explain the difference in price. And also ask the same thing to the more expensive one. It might shed some light on things and / or just maybe the expensive one might lower the price a bit?

If its anything like the place I work for the more expensive one takes your dosh then subs it out to the cheap one!

for £200 this was expensive due to them not having anything to template from as the wheel is rubber.

They are based in Cheshire and are one of only a handful of places that use a process called Connollisation.

I used them in conjunction with Newera Imports to fix my passenger seat, which had had a couple of tyres transported across from Japan, and marked seven of the seat's panels. I had already had a number of retrimming/restoration experts test the marks and they wouldn't budge.

These guys however sorted it out, and the marks have never been seen again, two and a half years later. The cost was £90. But the process is also good for restoring badly worn leather too - so I guess that they might be able to tell you if the process is suitable for a steering wheel application?

Thanks Nev but I am convinced that my wheel is just too far gone since the first guy had a go at restoring it. On the right hand side, it looks like a dog has had a go at it, to the extent that it is actually about 2mm lower than the rest of the wheel I will upload a picture when I get to work tomorrow

No joy i'm affraid but developments for potential group buy, 5+ units at £95 +vat + delivery each, any colour leather & stitching (within reason). Also waiting for him to get back re, bonnet bras Anyone up for this if I place an order?

Just bit the bullet on this. Prices have gone up since well over a year ago & as a one off but the plain black wheel is just bugging the cr@p out of me. Before & after pictures to follow shortly
