    The Replacement

    The Replacement is a:

2004 Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon GT B spec WR Limited

    http://exchange.goo-net.com/catalog/...AGON/10022227/

A special edition, 1 of 400 made each year of 2004 and 2005.
The wheels are going to be powder coated a nice dark grey, the front grill and rear chrome strip are being painted to match.

Qite happy with her so far, getting used to the Auto.

Thanks Pete, took me long enough to find some thing to replace such a great car.

Will sort the link tomorrow and add fresh photos, a couple of things to tidy up, but nothing much.

    Correct link

Will add some photos when I get a chance.

But don't mind the gold wheels or chrome grill.

The wheels need a light refurb and the grills chrome is flaking, so all the wheels are going to be powder coated in a dark gray (Brilliant Mouchete, to be precise) colour and the grill and rear chrome strip will be colour matched by a body shop while they sort some other paint issues.

    Awesome!

That is one potential choice for me when VR4's are simply too long in the tooth. There are some good easy ways to up the power too....

Another turning to the dark side. Sounds as though it has the Impreza Sti engine? If so dead easy to tune and not expensive
    300 BHP+ eeeeeeasy!!

    Great choice Robert.

    The Replacement pictures.

The wheels are going to be powder coated a dark grey, not qite antracite, but a DuPont colour called Brilliant Mouchete.

The chrome part of the front grill (which is peeling) and the rear chrome flash are going to be colour matched to the wheels.

A couple of body dings, stone chips and the like are being repaired and painted.

The in-built CD changer is fooked, so being replaced by a Sony XNV-L66BT.

A couple fo more jobs needed, but give it a month and all should be sorted.

They're proper nutters on that forum, they call their Legacys "Leggies" as well, sure to cause confusion at any meet we're both at..

Speaking of which, they want to recreate the Top Gear "Beating God" challenge of driving from Lands End to Lowersoft on the Summer Solstice, I'm wondering if Club VR-4 should do our own version and turn it into a rally-cum-charity event or something?

I would imagine a fair few people will be trying to do that.... I bet there is a half hour queue just to leave lands end! Having said that, I like the idea too....

    Nice car.

Thanks Nick, at the moment all I can say is it's different to the VR4, biggest thing I miss so far is the AYC, need to get used to how a LSD feels and gain some more confidence, but it certainly moves well

I really like the interiors of those cars. Looking good, that engine bay could use a bit of a clean by the looks of things. Can't wait to see what it looks like with the grey wheels too.

It wouldn't take much, but there I can already leave it in ECO mode, normal Drive, Sport Mode, use the gear stick to shift tiptronic or use the buttons on either side of the steering wheel, both sides have Up and Down buttons, so far Sport Mode is the nicest, again a case of getting used to her

I'll reserve judgement for now, needs a few bits done before real playing and limiting finding happens.

It's a lot stiffer though, but that's the type of suspension.

VR4 was standard, GT is Blitzen.
VR4 is on 16's, GT is on 18's
Interior is totally different, sculpted seats.
Performance for the Auto is back to PFL VR4 times Auto has 260, manual has 280.
    But still goes like stink.

At least the indicators and wiper controls are still on the proper sides...

    The Replacements Replacement....

    I'm Back

    But just to drop in...

Hi to all those still around

After 9 1/2 years, feck sake, has the Legnum been gone that long... shocked

Bit of review of the Legacy:
Solid car, went like stink, comfy and loved.
    Is also up for sale...

    It's time for another change.
    Now what to go for???

    The list included a:
Porsche Panamera Hybrid S - could have made the finances work, but couldn't stomach the possible future bills
    Volvo S90/V90 T8 - S90 was available, but didn't float my boat
Volvo V60 T8 - would have had to be a Polestar, and just sod all of them available and none in Ireland
    Do I go for a 2 seater?
Nissan GTR - Oh, how I wish, but still needed the space
    Go old JDM?
Always wanted and Supra - but no nice unmolested twin turbos around

    So?
    Saloon - Hatchback - 2 Door?
    Normal family car?
    Dare I suggest diesel?

Or stick to the tried and tested?
Estate - Big enough - Petrol - Turbo - +250bhp??? Worked the last 2 times
    Why the hell not.
But who makes such a thing these days?

My thoughts went back and forth, few cars fit the bill and then a search threw up something of interest.
Was listed on Friday, saw ad on Sunday, test drove Monday, deposit paid and picked up this Monday.
But what could it be I hear you all ask.... (well maybe one of you anyway)

    Estate - Big enough - Petrol - Turbo - +250bhp

For the first time in 22 years, NOT a JDM car

    Ok, ok, ok, enough waffle...
    And the answer is:
    Skoda - Superb - Sportline - Estate - 2.0Tsi - DSG - 280bhp - 2017
