remote central locking

Hello everyone, I am the happy owner of a 1996 vr4 just one small problem however,my key has stopped working the remote central locking I have tried a new battery,also tried cleaning inside of key but no joy,can anyone tell me if its possible to buy any type of remote fob and reprogram the central locking to accept it.
If so would you please share the info with me. Have called main dealer but Mr Mitsubishi wants an arm and a leg and my car for half a day, I am hoping this can be avoided, many thanks regards boxers

You can get the fobs of ebay and reprogramme then I think

Cheers Nick I have found an online workshop manual that explains how to ,I will give it a try.
