    Maf sensor

    Hey guys,

Got me a problem with the MAF.
    I have a 1998 Galant Vr4 manual.

I'm right now not on the island, but what I've been told (from a friend that tried driving the car) is that the car stalls when trying to drive it.

he told me that the check engine light is "ON".

I have had the same problem a few months ago when driving the car, I solved it with disconnecting the MAF and the car drove perfectly or almost ( I manage to get home ) lol

Now, which other car uses the same MAF as ours??
I'm located on the island of Curacao in the Caribbean sea...

    So,
out of which other car can I remove a MAF sensor?

Hmmm, well I don't think its a loose hose or something like that, because it did it a few months ago and by disconnecting the maf and reconnecting it, the car ran fine. But I will have to pull out the codes

disconnect the maf plug . if the car runs without stalling but will smoke badly it is your maf . if the same symptons (stalling)happen when the maf is disconnected then it will be another issue like pipe work out of place or split.

the car should run ok without stalling but will run very smokey with the maf unplugged.

    Hey dudes,

well test drove the car and hmm the car is running fine until it gets into the boost zone. Then the car will just do the same as when hitting boost cut. I tested the maf sensor and it isn't the maf sensor. Now do our cars use MAP sensor? Cause i think rats took a bite in some vacuum hoses, because my boost gauge hose is all messed up. So any help would be appreciated

A small hole would have that effect, as air will leak on boost. The air flow will go up and the car will fuel cut earlier. It will also give you strange boost gauge readings.

I would go over all the vacuum hosing and replace it - some could have perished.

For a start, check the hose at the back of the intake plenum - that's where your boost gauge is meant to be hooked up.
Next up would be the red tipped hose from the plastic intake elbow, trace it back and check all the T joins in particular.
