    Greeting from down under

    Hi all

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone. Just moved from the UK to New Zealand and bought myself a Legnum VR4. Its pretty standard apart from wheels, looks like its been dropped and has an induction kit of some sort and a cheapo boost gauge inside.
Looking at fitting the stock airbox and intake pipe back (when I find one) and then maybe for now just tickling the boost a bit to just under 1 bar.
First and foremost though, I need some workshop manuals for it, anyone point me in the right direction for these so I can start to get to grips with the Mitsi lump

    Thanks all

1998 Legnum VR-4, for fun with the family

Hey Adam, where in Worsley are you? I was born and raised in that neck of the woods Well, sort of. I used to live in Salford, then moved to Cornwall, and now in New Zealand, go figure

    Paul!

Having a 98 VR-4 mesans it is possible that you have a flashable ECU. If so you can tweek your boost, as well as ignition and fuelling, simply by flashing it. Take the small access panel off that is by the drivers left foot rest and see if you have black plastic boxes or shiny metal ones. Black plastic means easy ECU flashing!

    OOOoooooh!

I've just noticed your picture in your sig. That looks like a facelift, so late 98, so very likely to be a flashable ECU!

Hi, yeah it is the facelift model so fingers crossed because that sounds like it'll help with the mods to come
I'll go and check out the panel you mentioned later to see if it is the flashable ECU. What's involved with doing this, any special equipment needed etc?
I've just ordered myself an EBC for it to get things moving a touch Not going to go bonkers but a slight increase for now would be good. I hear the stock transmission cooler is pants as well, so I may upgrade that and the brakes next. Not much choice over here (from what I've found so far anyway)

That would be great. Just reading through and these seem to be a few Wellington based members, so hopefully someone will read this and offer assistance
I seem to be getting a slight hesitation on high rev boost and I suspect this is because of the crappy cone filter that it has on. I am trying to find a replacement std airbox and snorkel to hopefully solve this problem...

There are a few members from Wellington. I think Kenneth is in that area IIRC. If he is your in luck cause he is the guy that is making most progress at cracking the ECU's.

I was checking their site out after seeing the RR day you guys had there. Do you know how much they charge to tune the stock ECU and get it all setup and running sweet? I want to get all the basic mechanicals done first though and it needs raising a bit, who ever had it last clearly liked to scrape the front bumper at every given chance. Gonna need a bit of glass repair work once the suspension is lifted a bit.

I think its about $1295 including for the tune. You can get diagnositic runs done for $150 which will give you power/torque/afr's and can see where the car is sitting atm.
