With that in mind, I've just sent Neil @ Stainless an email asking if we can get a either a Galant VR-4 or Legnum (hopefully both) into the game in exchange for a mini-fundraiser from our good selves and Club VR-4 being credited in the games credits

I spoke to the CEO by email (really friendly and down to earth guy), he apologised and said that Mitsi would string them up if they did something like that, a shame but the harsh reality.

It's a app by VALVe (company that did Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Portal etc) to manage games, you can buy and download games through it over the Internet. No CDs or DVDs to mess around with, once you buy a game you can download and install it anywhere so long as you're logged in with your account, your save games get synced to "the cloud" so you can resume your game from another machine signed into the same account, has a built-in messenger system to talk to fellow gamer friends etc etc.

Carmageddon: Resurrection will be sold primarily through steam.

I've put my name down for a $25 donation - access to the Beta and the full game on Steam is well worth it for me, providing they do stay true to the roots of the original two games!

I spent countless hours of my youth playing the first 2 games (TDR2000 and the console versions weren't made by Stainless) and I'd love to spend countless hours of my adulthood playing a new one!

A PC will be more expensive than a console.

However - you gain so much in flexibility, that to me, it's well worth the cost (plus, I don't have a laptop etc, so if you factor in that cost too, the PC doesn't work out tooo badly)

But, a current upper-mid range gaming PC I'd say would consist of something like this:

You could save a little bit of money by getting a different processor such as the Core i3-2120 which is a dual-core CPU but still very capable, you could drop down on the graphics card to ~£150 and drop a little performance...

However - that would absolutely eclipse any current gaming console, and would certainly be as good as if not better than any next generation gaming console - remember that the next gen console will be made with current mid-low range PC technology due to the cost involved!

The original game (Carmaggedon 1) is being re-released with multiplayer support on Android and iOS (iphone / ipad etc) this Wednesday, normal cost will be £1.49 but for the first 24 hours it'll be totally free! So get in there early for a piece of gaming history without having to pay a penny
