I am starting this thread with the hope that a lot of you will help me and others out in the same sort of position.

I have my own website and need to generate as much traffic through it as possible as this helps with SEO ( search engine optimization ).

Also the same goes with my facebook page ( active but not finished ) which is linked on the website

This isn't so much the case anymore & is more down to the power of the link rather than quantity. If you have a reciprocal link with someone in similar industry with similar keywords, it has far more impact than random ones. If you use directory, random or blacklisted site, you will get penalised.
