    Forged pistons?

well, following on from the GB of Prism forged rods HERE

what are the options we have for forged pistons?

from the searching i have done, i can see we can choose from Wisco Here or JE Here.
there was some reseach into 4g93 pistons but i dont know what came of that Here

are there any other options that i have missed? or other other items that will work?

what you guys planning on using or have used?

tony AKA @munkeywrench got some pistons made by cp also so if hes kind enough he could post details

nothing came of the 4g93 pistons as the deck height on the 4g93t pistons is higher than a vr4 piston. (in fact some 4g93t owners use 6A13tt pistons to decompress their 4g93t's to run more boost! or so ive heard)

if tony can help id be keen to contact cp as ive only heard very good things about their products.

also one thing i did notice involving the rod group buy is the conrods were specified as sliding wrist pins in a bronze bush. where as the stock ones are press fit, so correct me if im wrong but this means the prism rods cannot be used with stock pistons as the wrist pin will be un restrained. this could be solved with forged pistons as the pistons could be specified with groves to put in a lock pin to contain the wrist pin. (edit question posted to rod GB thread)

yeah tomasz just posted pics of the trial batch of rods and they look like they have the bronze bushing in the small end of the rod, indicating that they are floating pin type.
yeah that the one thanks im useless at remembering specific user names.

i know hes got cp pistons but cant remember what hes done rod wise

Just did some explanation regarding conrods GB to clarify things. Even I got confused.
I know that kochajj did buy for this conrods Wiseco pistons, part no. K776M810A, somewhere from Netherlands.

What I just sold were a set of I-Beam Tech Rods and JE pistons, both were custom made however to spec

    stock C/R?
Bigger valve relifs for oversize valves?
shorter skitt for more revs or stock skirt for stability?

Let's get a list of interested people, then I can email IPP, and @Adam.Findlay can email CP. I think I'd rather deal with IPP, as they already have a working part number (although I imagine CP do as well, just not that I've seen).

    Def interested.
Insufficient knowledge to suggest a 'best way' .
    I'd go with the flow.

cool well @Kenneth @Gly @scott.mohekey @swinks what are your opinions on pistons.
i know shane aka fully had issuea with valve piston contact with his oversize valves although he did use hyuandi forged pistons so they may have had a higher deck height like the 4G93T pistons. so i think bigger valve relifs are definatly something to think about
id also be keen for a slightly shorter skirt for more rev ability.
and possibly increasing the static compression from 8.5 to 9 (probably not much more as here in the south island we dont have acess to e85 or better. only 98RON.
    any other suggestions?

what would be the cost on these? approximately? time frame on when they will be done or need paying for?

A set from IPP with rings has been quoted as $828 USD for a single set. This works out to be about $1,015 NZD or 530 GBP.

They take about 3 weeks to make.

I'm personally aiming for sometime towards the end of the year, possibly sooner.

where as im looking into doing something further down the track possibly mid next year. so in theory we could do two buys. one from wiseco as off the shelf pistons for those who want them soon and then another lot from CP later on as custom built to specs we come up with.
    sound good?

Ill have a talk to peter about what he reccomends is good for our engines but if your after stock compression id say IPP would be best, Im really just after custom stuff for my 10,000 Rpm limit goal. higher static compression to compensate for the lower dynamic compression at those huge revs.

    cool,

yeah i dont have the 10000rpm gold like you.

Just want something strong/reliable that will handle higher boost from bigger turbos,
something that will handle the abuse

300kw-350kw atw and a nice amount of torque would be nice, and still remain street drivable.
dunno if thats a realistic goal???

or what you guys are aiming for power wise?

yeah the pistons from ipp will be more than enough for that. but i mentioned custom order because i know kenneth was toying with raising static compression well above stock as he has acess to e85 just up the road from his house i think. and possible there may be others looking at getting more out of their 6a13tt's

I dont have a set power goal. I mainly wanna get to the rev target @ about between 20 (low) and 30+ (high) psi of boost power is an obvious byproduct.

It looks like Kenneth and Adam are probably going to have slightly different requirements to the rest of us. I'm happy to try and organise a group buy for the Wisecos via IPP for the rest of us though.
