    Vr4 tyre size

What size tyres do you have on your VR4?

I have just bought set of Enkei EVO 9 rims that will need new tyres and I was going to stay with 225/45x17 but I can get a set of GT Raidal HPX in a 235/40x17 very cheap

Anyone else seen or run 235/40x17 tyres before?

Reviews for those tyres look fairly promising!

I doubt those tyres will cause any issue on Evo wheels. Overall, the diameter will be 12mm less than stock VR-4 wheels/tyres, so you'll lose about 2% speed on your speedo, and it'll sit 6mm lower (and increase the wheel arch gap by 6mm).

Yeah they are not a bad tyre, Had them on my last car, Just really got to make sure that you get the one make atfer 2008 as 07/08 ones have been knowing to crack on the side walls, It already got a big gap within wheel arch's so 6mm isnt going matter to much but only paying $75 a tyre it pretty cheap to Falken 452 in 225/45x17 i was thinking about getting.

I'd go for the 45 profile. You will lose 10 percent of the tyre wall going to a 40 profile. I think that it will not only look wrong but also affect ride quality. Do they do the tyre in 235 45 17?

Yeah they do but i think that 235/45x17 is to big for a vr4, I'm not worred about ride quality as it ride pretty hard already and the roads in New Zealand pretty crap. I think I may need to put one on the car and see how it looks.

235/45/17 (on Evo wheels) made my speedo read spot on. There was next to no rubbing, only the faintest touch over deep compressions. Although this can be different to due slight variances between tyre manufacturers and tyre types.

The car got 225/45x17 on it now, I like the look on tyres on the car, At the moment it just cost of the tyres(Moving house = suck up heaps of money) is to why I did think about 235/40. Can get the Falken ze912 around $120 a tyre in a 225/45, Maybe it the best tyre to go for?

I had the ZE912 tyres in 235/45/17. I really like the tyre.

Although, TBH, I will be opting for 225/45/17 next time!

How did you find them for tyre wear? How many kms did you get?

No worse than anything else I've had. Probably lasted for about 12,000 miles / 20,000 kms - but I'm not particularly kind to them, and I have tracked the car with those tyres on too.

I had 225/45/17's on the old car and the tyre just fitted in the guard at std height.

I have 235/45/17's on the current one and they are reading 2km/h low on the speedo(compared to my Defi Display), but thats with GSD3's that are closer to 245's. If/when I change them ill go to 225/45's for clearance(the current ones rub with two people in the back in back roads or on the track).

I had the Goodyear GSD3's on my old Skyline and I didn't like them.

If I got 20,000kms out set of ZE912 I would be very happy and I'm pretty hard on my tyres. Other one I did look at is GT Raidal UHP

I would of got Fulda Exelero again if they still make/bought in NZ, One of the best tyres I had on any car.

Ive got Yoko 235x45x17 on Evo 9 rims at the minute, no clearance issues or rubbing, speedo reads a little low compared to satnav

I will be going back to Falken 452 225x45x17 when these wear out though - fo no reason other than I cant tell any difference in grip etc (although I havent tracked the car)

I've currently got Toyo Proxes on my car. They are 235/45/17.
My previous tyres have been Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta and Michelin Pilot Primacy, all at 235/45/17.

I have run others before too, at 225/45/17 and 235/45/17.

My next tyres will almost certainly be 235/45/17!

Goodyear Eagles do tend to be a bit wider than most, so I have seen them rub on VR4's at 235 wide, when lowered or when the car is loaded. Facelifts with plastic arches have less metal in there for the tyre to rub against, so I have not had any rubbage with my last few sets of tyres, even when lowered and loaded.

    Hope that helps.
