    GB: Forged Pistons

Hi all. I'm going to be buying a set of forged pistons very soon now (probably in the next week or two), and wondered if anyone else would be interested in joining in on a group buy in this time frame. I know it's very last minute, but I've just found the short block I was going to reuse with my ported heads has some dents and scratches in the decks and some surface rust in the bores.

I have a one off price from IPP for a set of Wiseco pistons (the same part number that has been mentioned elsewhere in the forum), with pins, clips, and a set of plasma moly rings for $828 USD (excluding shipping and any local tax).
    @Patryn999 I believe you're interested. Anyone else?

Will these work with the prism rods?

According to the IPP rep I'm dealing with, the pistons will work with either floating or pressed pins. I'm not really sure what to ask to further confirm this (if it needs further confirmation).

Should I confirm that the pin diameter is the same as stock?

Sorry Carsten. I'd love to postpone to help everyone out, but I really need to get my VR4 going again.

Yes please, perhaps if you can make a compound query such as

"Could you please confirm that the pin diameter = x and they will support y type pins (where x = standard pin diameter and y = whichever pin type is required by the PRISM rods)

Sorry I didn't look it up myself, shouldn't really be online at present

Do they come with pins? If not I guess they will need to be purchased also...

They do come with pins. I will talk to Adam to find out what I'm confirming then ask.

I've had a bit of a look around, and if we don't want to go with custom pistons, then Wiseco is our only choice. I'm ok with this, as I'd rather get things rolling as soon as possible. I've got a list of NZ distributors of Wiseco to contact, as well as IPP.

I've heard back from IPP, and they'd do us $10 off each set. I'm not overly wowed by that, so am waiting to see what kerlford cams have to say.

    Wow, about 1.2% discount!
$10 per piston would be nicer.

Yeah, it's a bit ridiculous. Unless they're already offering a low price. I should find out when Kelford get back to me.

Got the following responses from IPP today:

Once it gets to your country you are responsible to pay whatever taxes and fee your country charges. We do not know that information and every country is different.

However, for our entire overseas customers we do all the paper work and invoice for half of the actual amount that you paid for. For example say your complete order came to be $1000.00 we would do the invoice for $500.00. We do this for our international customers so it saves them on their taxes and fees that their country charges them.

Yes, you can place your order online and in the comments you can state you were quoted $170.00 for UPS shipping. It takes us 24 business hours to process an order once we have received the order. We will have to get the part/parts transfer to this location for international shipping. Once the order has been shipped to you, UPS will email you the tracking number.

If there is anything else we might be able to help you with or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

I'll leave it till monday/tuesday to hear back from Kelford, unless anyone else thinks I should wait a little longer?

Just a small update. Kevin from Kelford cams is still waiting to hear back from Wiseco. Also, I've ordered a set of gauges so I can measure the bore on my spare block, just in case the previous owner had it bored instead of just honed.

How does everyone feel about placing an order for these soon? @Gly are you any closer to being able to join in?
