    5 years on!

I would have posted this last week, but it's been far too hectic with work and moving house, amongst other things!

Anyway, as of the 27th of Feb, I have had the VR-4 for five years!

So for a treat, I took it for it's sixth MoT test on the 28th.

    Passed with no advisories too

Although for the first time ever, he put it on the emissions tester, despite the fact that my cat remains snuggled up in a box in the garage!

Would you believe that it passed the HC and CO?! Although this may be attributable to the Lambda being slightly high - but he let it through all the same...

Plans for the future? Keeping it as long as possible! This may be a year to actually sort out some of the niggles/upgrades too! Yeah right...
October 2023 fleet status: 100% operational

Congratulations! I do wonder how mine will get on with the mot! My exhaust is completely custom and has no cat nor is there any way to fit a standard atm! To fit one I would have to get the guy to make me a custom section with a cat and then cut into the mid section to weld in a flange so it could be interchanged!

my exhaust has the same problem. the most cost effective solution is probably take it to an MOT tester who doesnt bother with emissions

Nice one Nev I wonder what they tested it against as the guy that does mine says there is no listing on the database for a VR4.

If tested, it should be tested against the generic 'unlisted but fitted with cat' figures, which are a little more generous than the specific figures for specific models.

I'm sure KiwiTT (NZ/Aus) has had his for over 10 years. He put up a thread some time ago with a 10 year review saying nothing comes close to the car and hoping for another 10 years!

Back on topic, well done Nev. I'm a few months behind you and it will be 5 years of VR4 ownership for me on 10th July. The silver one for 3.5 years and the red one for 1.5 years. Again, nothing comes close to it for my requirements!

4 years here - like most others, still nothing else that is within budget that will do as much as the Legnum will or better than the Legnum will.

Other than fuel and routine servicing (oil & filter every 4.5k), it's cost me very little over those 4 years and ~60k miles. A new rear wheel bearing, adjustable AYC pressure switch, an a/c condenser, and a new power steering belt are the only unscheduled items it's required.

It'll be having a full cambelt service later this year, but that's under the realms of "routine servicing", which any replacement car might require anyway.
