I'll make an other dyno tomorow without the tip on the muffler , i think that i can take 10awhp...

I ordered a coils and ptu for 3000GT , to install on the galant VR4 ... Now it's impossible to check the timing with a timing light and i don't know how much timing i have ... On the aem ems , we need to sync the timing ... i made my ignition map with 22° to the redline @ 0.75 bar range ( for an exemple ) but i can have 16° of timing or 14° or 12°...it's hard for me to explain in English , because i'm french ..

Also , i think that the camshaft profil is not designed to have power at the top end ... See the dyno ... I already made a measurement of the intake and exhaust valve and comming soon the flow bench for a vr4 heads.

    Saf

    Ps: Ignition Sync :

The ignition sync is there just to be sure that the EMS is displaying the correct amount of degrees before or after TDC the engine is actually receiving. For example, say that you give the engine 16* of timing at idle on the ignition map, so you set the active idle cells on the ignition map to 16*. But how do you know if the EMS is ACTUALLY giving it 16*? Maybe it's 18*...maybe it's 26*...? Unless the ignition is synced with the EMS, there is no way to know. This is obviously why the actual timing and the EMS timing need to be synced. To do this all you need is a timing light and a crank pulley with some markings on it. Once you find the timing marks on the crank pulley, you can hook up the timing light. You're then going to want to lock the ignition timing so it doesn't move at all.

Read the dyno graph and description of setup, and you will see clear
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

For 0.75 bar , it's good !!! but we can see after 6000rpm the power drop !! The stock cams are not made for big turbos or for top ends ... The igniction coils are not ok for 330awhp and more .... The stock coils can't received the HKS DLI and that is why i'll go with the stock 3000GT ignition ... Anyway , with 0.75 bars we are not on the good range for the 19T ... i'll post an other dyno with the new coils , same boost boost and ignition synced

is he just boasting, he has td04 so i would expect it to make more power at lower boost levels, he also has big injectors and upgrade fuel pump, etc, etc.
only the first post was populated when i asked the questions.

he has posted again i the time it has take for my to type my response.

ok so he is happy with the result. good for you Saf

you already have a VR4 with 423atw bhp and that is a work in progress, well it says that in the signature.

sound like you need to get and EBC plumbed in and hell will break loose!

Davezj , i made 423awhp , but with a lot off missfire ... With this topic and my feedback , i hope to help the owner to go on the right way , good gombo parts and i'm think that i'm not alone with TD04 turbos .... I saw many thread on this board and ozVR4 , but with times i saw that many peoples are lost on how to upgrade the car ... Ben from Eurospec is a nice guy ( 3/S owner ..loool) ...

I saw a thread for camshaft for sale , but anybody know how is the stock cams , anybody tried cams gear for the overlap etc etc ..

    Nope, you wouldn't.
Search for TD04-19T flow chart and you will see that is a good solid result for such low pressure on this turbo. IIRC it's a wastegate openning pressure.

If tuning was a such easy and trivial matter as quoted everyone would run 500+ bhp vr4 now

ha ha, not meaning to make it sound easy, just a simplistic way of describing it.
just a response to the lower boost setting that Saf has only useing wastegate pressure.
he seems to every other base covered and yet probably the cheapest one to do is an EBC and he has not done it (well it is broken at the moment). and this would see some massive gains in his particular build as he says him self that this is the missing bit

i am only just getting my head round using kenneths rom 1.03 for tuning my car. i want to understand what i doing before i jump in.
i have all the bits in place that i want to do to my car at the moment, i have enough fuel, enough air, Spark is a little bit unkrown, i have AFR and Boost and Fuel pressure. so the next thing is the ECU.
this is why i am interested in tweeking threads at te moment.

AWESOME !!! Thank's a lot Sir ... Very nice informations

Please , correct me if i'm wrong but , i'm sure that : IS Not possible to have 500awhp with the OEM CAMS

    Advertised duration 212/221
    duration@.050" -165/168
    lift -.200" /.205"

The stock 3000GT for an exemple ( and we know the oem 3000GT cams is not really good) is :

    Advertised duration 256/256
    duration@.050" -200/200
lift -.349" /.350" ----> See the difference with the stock galant!!!!

Nice find , thank's a lot ... i think that i'll go to regrind my camshaft for sure!

Saf, does the 3000GT have the igniters built into the coils?

pretty good effort on the 19T's
