    No , this is a pic :

I bought msd wire to make custom lead wire like this :

    http://www.stealth316.com/2-msd-ignwires.htm

    3000GT Ignition coil :

    http://www.stealth316.com/2-ignitioncoils.htm

    3000GT PTU :

    http://www.stealth316.com/2-pwrtransunit.htm

With this setup , i know that the 3000GT can go to 550awhp without missfire and without HKS DLI ... Also , i can check the true timing , with timing light ... With DLI, i run 930awhp without problem

    Parts are not exepensive :

    Coils : $150
    Ptu : $170
    Msd wire : $90

Nice work, always fun to see vr4:s making some power
How does it spool with the TD04HL-19T:s? In the first dyno picture it made full boost at 4500 rpm

Thinking of upgrading my TD04L-13T to 19T, but have to decide if I to stick with the TD04L turbine (for potentially faster spool) or go for the bigger TD04HL turbine

    My advice ...

If you have camshaft like 272/300 ... HL turbo will be good for the top end ... But the stock camshaft can't support more air after 5500rpm and 19T L will better ( no laggy vs HL ) . With 19T turbos , the car is very different to drive ... It's fun but .... She's not agressif like stock with 1.2 bars of boost and tinny td03 .. With 19T , you'll can see the rpm go to the red line without problem ( like drag car or GT cars ).

I'll post new dyno when the car will be ready to run ( stay on ignition coils )

Thats what I thought, it could be good with TD04L-19T. Have stock cams, but have planned upgrading them for more top-end
Looking forward to see the new dyno charts
Btw do you have forged or stock engine internals?

So this is all with stock cams etc? I've got td04-13g's & running 0.9 but didn't want to turn boost up to dangerous levels. Wonder what boost I can run safely. Any thoughts?

    Good work btw
Possibly the only VR4 that was driven by the current owner before being registered..... & it's a UK car

Nice figures, is the car still very "driveable" or has it turned into a bit of an animal?

They are fantastic figures and the curve are so smooth and stable and you are are still at relatively low boost levels, this should be an interesting few days for you when you turn up the boost.

    Bye for Now!

Saf - some impressive numbers, but I just want to make sure that I am understanding your readings right. AWHP = at the wheels? So the flywheel numbers (FWHP or FWP) would be 20-25% more???
Also, in the UK we measure lbft (pound foot) torque, rather than Nm. So I converted your 587Nm to 433lbft so can understand the numbers and compare better. Again, in the UK, tuned VR4's make higher torque figures than FLYWHEEL power figures, so it makes your torque figures look very low compared to the power figures.

So my last Dyno saw a torque figure of approx 370lbft (approx 500Nm) but 243 bhp at the wheels. (This was about 305 bhp at the flywheel, if I remember correctly.)

I realise that I am running stock tubs and you are running a much more modified car, but the number comparison looks wierd:

    Nick - 243 AWHP 500Nm
SAF - 487 AWHP 587Nm - - (Thats 100% increase in power, but less than 20% increase in torque?)

See what I mean? That's why I was asking if we are comparing the same numbers!

    I've been looking some more.

I think the torque figures look "low" because the boost takes so long to rise. (The figures aren't low at all, they are good, but they seem low compared to the power figures!) Is that the way you have chosen to control boost, or is it because the tubs can't physically spool up any earlier? For example, I am making 1.0 bar of boost at just over 3000 rpm, but you are nearly at 5000 rpm before you get that boost pressure. Do you find the car is much less forgiving to drive around when the peak torque figure is so high up the rev range?

Also, how are you doing with the drive train? I remember you converted to manual, but I don't remember if you have stock AYC or something else.

Forgive my questions - I want to have bigger turbos on my car too at some point, but I want to retain a daily drive feel. You are already beyond the power levels that I am hoping for!

Ok , the 19T HL is laggy , you can have the same result and better curve if you go with the 19T ... i'm running with 5 speeds manual gearbox and a stronger stage 3 clutch ( the same as I sold @ Foxdie on the board) , stock AYC and case ... The car is very smooth and i love it .
