thanks Pete. they sound ideal for the weather up here. firm on the outside for cornering in the dry but softer in the middle for wet roads when the car wont be cornering as hard. would that be an accurate description?

assymetrical for mixed road conditions, symetrical for more specific road conditions?
with the climate we have up here the ideal pattern would be assymetrical for summer use ie pretty much 50/50 wet/dry?
these seem to be a good deal. especially since someone else is trying to sell a set of 912s for £399 which is a lot more than most package deals on 914s

I don't like asymmetrical tyres. I have gad Michelin pilot sports and vredestein sessanta. Both had good grip but the movement of the car was horrible when on the limit.
What pressures do you run Nick?
Yeah that's an interesting topic too! Is usually have them on 2.4 bar front and back (35psi).

I run my Hankook V12 Evo's at 34 psi in the front and 36psi in the back.
34 front 32 rear at the mo,going to try 35/33 tomorrow and see what goes, will report back...
Hi guys
Just chipping in here.
I went for Goodyear F1 Asymmetric all round a few years ago based on feed back here. As great as they are, I found on my V6 that road noise was high (too loud) and they wore out fast, 9k miles. Previously I had Michelin on my 6G Galant and was easily getting 35k-40k on a set.
Last summer I needed two of my four F1s replacing. I searched, read reviews, and opted for Michelin Pilot Exalto. Wow! Instantly (had theses fitted to the front) road noise was certainly lower, comfort improved. So far, after 5k, tyre wear is slower.
At Christmas I needed the back replacing, I went for the Michelin and I am a happy man with my tyres.
I do believe the correct pressure for 235 45 17 is 36psi front and 32psi rear for normal use. I use 38front and 35 rear for motorway use.
this might be irrelevant now anyway. i found a set of black rota gtr alloys with falkens. 18 x 8 though which i am hoping wont cause any issues

the rotas stuck out too far so i wound up with a set of inovite redlines with avon ZZ3s
Just for interests sake, the three fastest cars on track today were wearing what?????????? Eagle F1 assymetricals. Rest my case!!!!
And one of three fastest VR4s wear Hankook evo
