    An idea.. 4G63T??

    Hey guys..

A friend of mine is going to do a engine swap in his 2G Eclipse and brougt me to an idea.

I drive a V6 NA 5 Gear M/T, would it be possible to swap an 4G63T in? I know the 97+ galants here are with 4G63 NA SOHC too, and I think i only would need the right engine mounts.. But whats with gearbox?
I hope somebody can give me more infos

    Greetings
    Martin

Taylor has done this here in NZ. I think he used an evo gearbox.

Ahh.. I think you'll be able to use a manual fwd gearbox from a galant 4g63. The bellhousing should be the same.

Or would u say it will fit? If no, can i modify the 4WD Evo gearbox to work as an 2WD?

I think you have misunderstood Scott in his previous reply. There are non turbo versions of the 4g63 mated to front wheel drive gearboxes. One of those would probably work.

The MT trans of 4g63 N/A - V6 NA are the same in ASA!

F5M42-2-XXXX the last 4 X's are different with the model years!

    Edit:

I just saw, Lancer CS3W has an FWD tranny who looks simelar too Evo's.. and as far as i see the both use the same axles...

They are not quite the same, the bellhousing is different. People have used the front wheel drive manual gearbox from a EUDM 6A13 on a 6A13TT conversion. It seems logical that the same could be done on a 4G63 to 4G63T.

The bell housing portion of a 4g63 gearbox can be swapped with the bell housing portion of a 6a13 gearbox, I believe. @Adam.Findlay will know for sure.

Wow, this part costs 555€ new...
I think i have to go to a car graveyard (i hop thats the correct word) and look that i get one used.. the engine should fit in with original mounts from a 4G63 NA ..

Would be cool if thats work, cuz than the swap would be easy..
