    gearbox problem

I have a 98 v6 manual and it has no gears, I was pulling out of the top of the road and got as far as 3rd gear and now I have 3rd or nothing.
I have took the gaiter of the stick and it seems that when the stick is in the neutral position its in 3rd and when its in the 4th position its in neutral, it wont move into 3rd gear position and there is no sideways movement, the cables are moving at both ends so the cables haven't snapped.

    ANY IDEAS THANKS

Check the brackets at the gearbox end, about 6 inches before the selector arm connections. Sometimes the rubber seperates and the brackets move too far to allow gear selection.

Easiest fix is a bolt through the two parts and the rubber. The bracket is quite expensive from mitsubishi.
