    Manual gearbox

so i was at pick a part today, getting a replacement engine mount just to get the car through wof, got it off a galant vr4 manual, was thinking about taking the gearbox, its already out of the car, but was wandering something, when i turned the input shaft, the internals sounded a bit loose, dont know how else to describe it, i doubt it had oil in it, just wandering if the sound i can hear is a stuffed box, might take it anyway as its cheap as and take it apart, just gotta wait for the boss to pay me haha

Na, if you twist the input shaft back and forth it will have a little bit of play usually.

got the gearbox, $110, didnt even have to take it out of the car haha, kind of thinking about the diff transfer case, possibly engine, but the problem is i dont know why the car is at pick a part, so everything could be stuffed, selling the box wasnt first idea, was more along the lines of rip it apart and learn a few new things about gearboxes, i prefer hands on and looking at stuff thats in front of me than on the internet haha, possibly replace some things in it if i have time/skill/money, saves taking my car off the road to do the same things, and if i break it, oh well, it was cheap haha

Now you can look at internet (theory) and match it up with the real thing (practical). Best way.

To be honest the manual boxes for these cars are rare enough that you don't really want to use it as a mess around box.
