The oddest thing happened earlier, I was driving home tonight and my car told me 'I need Lubrication' didn't say where (no smutty comments). Checked engine oil, all ok. Any ideas anyone? Col.

Live, love, learn but most of all.... Plan.
Was it at idle at the lights? It's normally due to low oil pressure.
Oh right, maybe the oil was just a little warm then and it had thinned out. I was actually doing about 60 but that was a lot slower than I had been going.
This is often indicative of a lazy pressure sensor too. Not much money new from camskill iirc.
Thanks Nick, ordered one. £4.20 + £4 delivery, robbin gits. Do I need a new/additional oil cooler, assuming I have one already? if so what type would be recommended? here's a pic of my FL baby alongside Ian's PFL from Leeds.

There is no engine oil cooler from the factory. Unless you are planning to track your car with raised boost, I don't see any need for one either.
Nick, you haven't seen me driving!!I tend to stretch all the speed limits other than 30mph. Col.
I think any generic oil cooler can be installed to give the transmission fluid added cooling. Just have a look on eBay, there are plenty around. You just need to work out the oil feed/return pipe routes and mounting the cooler. I have seen people fit them behind the passenger side foglight with not much hassle.

i still don't think it is necessary.
if you really want to fit one any oil cooler will do as long as you can fit it in.
it is probably best to work out where you want fit it, work out where you are going to run the pipes, what orientation you are going to put the sandwich plate on, are going to use an oil thermostat, work out if you are going to need a fan on the back of it as where you have found you can mount it does not have any direct air flow, then you need to work out how to control the fan, on a manual switch or thermostat switch, then worry about which one to buy.
this is the way i did not do it. so it was a right pain in the back side once i got round to doing. the oil cooler is the cheap bit, it is al the other stuff that cost the money, personally i would budget for about £80-100 to do the job for parts only. Depending if you use fans and oil thermostat, and fan controller, which would be more.
Bye for Now!
Cheers guys. I'll fit the new switch and have a peek at what I want to do afterwards.
Although I suspect Atik got the wrong end of the stick about an oil cooler, his advice is probably good. If you are pressing on a lot and you have an auto, then an ATF cooler is probably a good idea. I'd stick it in so the flow continues to the rad after the new cooler, not the other way round. That way the rad can bring the ATF temp up if the cooler is working too well.
I did. I saw cooler and assumed ATF
Nick, whatever I need, I assure I will not be fitting whatever it is that finally gets fitted. I'll be fitting someone else up for that job
Last time my car spoke to me it was suggested i get an old priest and a young priest.
Eh? Me no understand Ausie.
Oh, my car is possessed, needs an exorcism!
