    Stereo wiring problem....

I have recently changed my stereo and now having problems getting it to power up although it was working in my previous car fine?

I have no power going to it and when i try and put and earth on it the dash illumination goes out then when i unplug the earth they come back on? does this sound like a wiring fault/fuse? or the stereo itself?

    Cheers!

Sounds like a wiring fault. Have you used a generic connector to the car or spliced the wires? What was in there before? Was that working?

I shorted the ACC wire when refitting my old stereo in mine and the dash lights went out but the needles remained lit, it also knocked out the CDL, it blew a 10amp micro fuse in the engine bay box in a yellow pull up holder.
Similar problem, maybe not the same though, worth a check

It could also be a random blown fuse or a bad connection on any part of the stereo wiring.

It could be. The stereo gets a signal from the dash lighting circuit - most stereos light up at night even if switched off. I'd still be checking the wiring to the stereo though - you haven't mentioned how it is connected?
