    10 psi to 14 psi...big change

I was getting a bit immune to how the car felt whilst driving it at 10 psi, decided to bite the bullet and try 14 psi, was a bit concerned about the autobox and boost spikes as I tried it once before and I got fuel cut at 12 psi ( have changed the MAF since then and its running much better).

So......I finally got a good rush from the acceleration again, especially out of corners with the extra torque, and how its pulling up to high speeds, boost spike is max of 2 psi in gear changes and drops back to 14 psi probably within a second of the change, it makes a big difference and as a second fun car its got its fun factor back again :-)

it is a great feeling when get the car going as you would want it to go.

a very good mod fora relitivily standard VR4 is to up the boost andraise the Fuel cut limit via an ECU reflash. you can get much more out of a VR4 without spending any money at all. if you can do refalsh of vr4 ecu. it is not the max you can get out of a VR4 but it is a taster of what could possibly come in the future.

    Bye for Now!

How do you go about reflashing the ECU. With a flashed ecu what can boost be taken up. I know increasing the boost will wear the turbos quicker but would 18-20psi be ok.

There are some good threads about ecu flashing. Our turbos are only small, so once you go over about 1.0bar you get very little extra power, the tubs are working so hard that all the extra pressure is mostly extra heat.

Ok thanks. IVe seen people doing td04 swaps but it's a lot of work. I assume there is no upgrades possible to the td03. Shame can't make a td03.5

best thing you can do after 14 psi or even before is really a large fmic and a straight through exhaust, the fmic cools the charge and the straight through exhaust with downpipes reduces the chance of dett as well as helping power
