What I did to my car today

Hello everybody, I decide to follow ozvr4 and start similar thread to them over here, its about small jobs (or big one) what you did but is not worth to start new thread, so no matter if you just polish your car, change tyre, bulb or engine and would like to share it here is thread for it.

Hope it will be live with daily uploads and lots of pictures to show off or/and inspire others. This is open for everyone so feel free to post whatever you like as long as is vr4 related.

    Let me start :-)

Today I have a bit of time to play with my car and fit few nice shiny and red bits to it, few pic never hurt

looking good! I like the red cam cover. Is it powder coated?

Please keep in mind, that bleeding the Golpher rad is a real pain (at least it wasa PITA for my car - so bad that I thought head gaskets may have gone as I had bubbling in expansion tank - turned out to be an improper bled cooling system....)

Yes powder coat, and thanks for head up about bleeding, I read through your thread about and come to conclusion that cap which come with rad is crap and not let it to bleed properly so I use my old one, will need to drive a bit to see if its ok but during idle in garage its working as it should ie, pipes going hard when hot and its suck coolant off expansion tank when cooling down so its bleed itself.

    What Erni902 Did Today

    As you wish @adaxo

Here is some work I have done, over the last few weeks or so, swapping bits from the purple Legnum to the silver one:

First was the exhaust, after the old one corroded and fell off I reverted back to the exhaust that was on the car when I bought it along with taking the tinted lights off and replacing with stock:

    Before:

    After:
    20141115_095448 (Medium).jpg

Then came the removal of the black centre console:

    Before:
    IMG_1850 (Medium).JPGIMG_1854 (Medium).JPG

    After:
    20141115_095316 (Medium).jpg

Then the removal of the 7202 ECU ready for Area 52 meet next weekend:
    20141115_095306 (Medium).jpg

And finally the removal of my HID Angel Eyes and Private Plate:
    Before:
    IMG_2782 (Medium).JPG
    After:
    20141115_095349 (Medium).jpg

Not having the cars in the same place means that I was unable to swap so taking bits off transporting to silver one then fitting. Hopefully have time this week to do it all. Will update as and when.

make an educated guess what my winter project is...

    IMG_1248.jpgIMG_1249.jpgIMG_1261.jpg

additionally I will partly disassemble the IC piping and some engine parts and get them powder coated.

Was the same with me, but when going for longer runs over motorway or in summer heat, it was going to expand and pushing coolant out over overflow bottle. It was not the rad cap which was crap I think.

If completely cooled down, check coolant level inside radiator. If you can see the cooling fins inside and the rad is not properly filled, you still have air in. Another test is, if the rad cap is on, try to squeeze the top rad hose (when cold). If you can clearly hear water moving then air is locked inside the system.

I do not want to panic Adam, just to help diagnose a problem, if any may occur. Last but not least, the overflow bottle should not be filled more then to the min-marking when cold. You will have more coolant inside the system (prob 1l) which will expand more.

    Nope! WIN-lift swap.

I was at a Mitsubishi owners meet in Autumn and had to admit that there is nothing which let my Legnum stand out from the other Galant estate cars. Euro-Galant owners are mainly using the Legnum PFL spoiler and buying the "Legnum" lettering.

So, logical consequence, I need to have something different and rare -> FL rear end conversion has to be done. Well, I was taking GTOrange's thread as a guide only to find out that half the work involved was not described/named withing GTOrange's thread. :/

Five studs wheels always work for me when struggling to recognise vr4. And yeah thread about swapping fl rear end seems soooo easy, looks like is not.

Doubly annoying as I was on my way to Eurospec when it happened.

Oh dear, that's not good. Has it bent the rear suspension or is it just panel damage? You must be gutted, sorry.

    Ah Cheers Tim.
I'll get it on the 4 poster today but early signs are not good. I couldn't have hit in a worse place it seems, one foot front or back and it would be an easy fix.
Oh well, I can look forward to filling this thread with good stuff when I'm putting my new car together. I've just got to find one now...........

@Dimes yes that certainly not a thing considering as 'good mod' to 'inspire' others, but at least you seems to have your head raised up and, as you say, **** happens. I would say 'show must go on' :-) so 'thanks' for that this thread potentially will be more interesting with your progress.

There's a sneak peak pictures of what we attempt to do this week

this will add some weight to my car that's for sure

In the main time I changed old bulbs in door cards for led, not just for look as they are much brighter but mainly to save battery while play with car and keep open door, after few hours a day, without starting engine, they draw quite a bit from battery, not any more.
Camera flash not fire after change, they soo bright.

door light to LED is nice idea as these are good safety feature. brighter the better in the doors.

i will have to think about doing all the internal light swap to leds.
