Looks nicely done. Not sure I get the perfect 'feel' for this square-ish element in the all-so-rounded bodylines for the Galant/Legnum.

I gave my Galant a wash and wax today. As a Scotsman I have exceeded my daily sunlight allowance so once it recedes I will be changing out the headlight lamps as one has gone a bit dim.

Since Friday I'm a Galant VR4 owner. Previously owned a Legnum VR4, still own a (lhd) VR2 and had a (lhd) V6 (also had several 6G Galants).

But now a 1996 cold spec VR4 with under 100K kms. It has.a.failing AYC pump, but I got a replacement (EVO) pump waiting. And TCL light comes on every now and then.

During the weekend I replaced the cloth interiour with a (euro) black leather interiour, including electrically adjustable front seats.

The rear bench is now 2-part foldable, which took quite some more effort then anticipated as the mounting brackets/captive nuts aren't pre-installed. It took some time and several pre-installments before I knew the exact mounting positions for the captive nuts that I pressed in.

Also installed the stainless JDM door sills. Starting to look extremely familiar to my VR2

Oh and the rear TEIN coilovers were a quick install too.

Hi @MarkSanne - do you have any more details on what you did with the brackets here as I'm struggling a little to do the same to mine?

Details of where I have got to over here...

Oops, missed to reply to this, sorry Alexander!
I just used captive nuts, no brackets or anything. It took me quite some time to find the exact mounting positions for the hinges, but once I figured that out (by simply having the folding parts stand up, locked in position (those mounting points are luckily there, so simply bolt the locking-pins and lock the seats in place. Then make sure the bench piece is also installed which moves the folding parts of the seats into the exact right place, then mark the hinge locations and you can finally remove most and start drilling holes and mount the captive nuts.

Last weeks I've been working on the VR4 again, removed the alarm (gave me endless headaches), removed the custom center console (previous owner skillfully and tastefully added 3 52mm gauges into it) and replaced it with a factory center console which I painted metallic black (of course including all other console pieces too). I put the AFR and Boost gauge in the glove box, which already housed the Apexi SAFC and a subwoofer volume knob. Also installed a Kenwood 2DIN headunit which I had laying around. Good unit, excellent bluetooth options too.

I did a little mod to the driver side window-switches, where I added a second switch that lights up with an also added LED (provisions are on the PCB, so all it takes is a donor switch).

Then I went on to mod the tail lights (removed the plastic piece behind the reflector, removed the red lines insert from the clear piece of the facelift tail lights and added a red LED strip to make it maybe somewhat more modern.

    (original)

    (modified)

    (compare modified and original)

Yesterday I replaced one of the vacuum solenoids (MR266769 / k5t47576) which resolved the ECU error 71 (TCL).

Today I finished converting a set of JDM 1-piece headlights to house LHD reflectors and I removed the orange indicator inserts (giving it a bit more clean look).

(left is modified JDM, right is euro 2-piece head lights)

Finally I tidied up the frame, while the headlights and grille were out, some light surface rust is now removed and freshed up and painted.

The bolts started to get a bit corroded, so I took them out, sandblasted, primered and painted (incl clearcoat) so they'll last for many more years to come.

Next I'll be working on repainting the black door frames. They really need to be freshed up so I can install an original set of JDM wind deflectors which I have bought many months ago.

Some great work there @MarkSanne - it's often a load of little jobs that make you feel like you've made the most progress. The rear lights are quite effective!

Yes looking great and thanks about the tip for the captive nuts - hadn't thought about going that kind of route!

I have some OEM mounts somewhere in the UK postal system hopefully at the moment as a donor from another car, so if they ever turn up I will try those first, else your route sounds just as good :+1:
