Put the bumper on the car tonight and my goodness I'm in love all over again!

And Atik, you were correct on the first two! The other two are the removed top ridge to house a FL grille and last one is the removed lower side fins on the bottom of the bumper which I don't like one bit as they function primarily to scratch over speed bumps and pavement-edges.

    LOVE this 'evil eyes'

btw what do you use on plastic lamps to keep them in such a nice condition? asking as my 'new' daily have plastic lamps too and after just 4 years they start to fade and looks awful.

    Thanks Adam!

I've wetsanded them with grit 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500 and then used a polishing compound and a polishing machine.

Great as I have all that grades and compound too, tbh I was expecting that you use some uperduperextronestepthingy and some magic on them :-)

Should you not spray them with some kind of UV protectant to prevent clouding?

I've done the same as above, with the additional step of a layer of wax on top - my headlights have not clouded and it's been a years since I cleaned them up

Yeah I used some Meguirs plasticX stuff on them too as a final step. Seems to keep them nice & shiney

Not too much, just replaced the inner part of a tail light for a fresh one as the old one endured several months of water which ruined the chrome.

The contrast of the phone-camera can't capture it, but the LED line is very nice bright red and much thinner than how it looks on the photo.

So the Silver VR-4 had what seems to be either a n/a V6 airbox and snorkel or a different model. Finally got around to removing the VR-4 snorkel and airbox from the purple Legnum swapping it onto the Silver one. When I removed the V6 airbox I noticed something quite concerning, a section of the flexi rubber pipe that heads down to the front turbo had a huge tear where the clips holds it on, anyway a picture paints a thousand words:

So back to the purple VR-4 it was to remove the same section, upon inspection it appeared that this one was fine. Swapped them over and then set to installing the correct VR-4 airbox.

Below are some pictures of the differences in diameter of the snorkel and the airbox entrance:

That huge split certainly will have caused issues, if not in stalling, bad idle or fuel consumption it would have been performance! Must be a very worthwhile swap

After a long period of waiting, collecting parts, again waiting and a longer time at the body and paint shop I finally received the car back. The facelift of the a$$ has been completed. Yesterday I finally started to put back together the car.

What has been done I hear you asking? roof rails removed, rear body panel swapped for FL versions, a respray (roof, rear quater panels and rear section, tailgate, spoiler, bumper, FL side skirts, FL rear skirt extensions) and interior parts covered in Alcantara (artificial suede). All interior plastics have been resprayed black too.

Need to finish the car this weekend though...

Wow. Great effort gone into that car Stefan! Would it not have been easier to get a facelift Legnum VR4?

How is that license plate going to fit? Or will it be swapped for a square version plate?

Stadard Euro license plate will fit without issues @MarkSanne. Oh, did you notice the lack of the rear lock and the both plastic hooks on the rear tailgate? I am in love with the car again and there are so little details to find.

And @Atik, yes it would have been easier and probably cheaper to buy a FL car. But the lack of those cars in Germany and the issue with registering FL cars after 2001 build date makes it difficult. Plus the modifications to the rest of the car and technical condition - it was worth to spend approx 3500 EUR for this PROPER conversion and have a car with guaranteed no rust!

To be honest, 1000 EUR was the cost for the suede fabric and saddling. So it is 2500 EUR for this conversion.

@MarkSanne Those lights are looking great both front and rears, good work.

Yes well I did noticed my AFR change a bit afterwards and now there is no more whistle on acceleration. Havent noticed a great deal of difference when driving but then Ive had my daughter in the car so not been booting it. She has been idling rough and occasional stalling when started whilst already warm, i.e. go to shops fine, come out start, rough idle drive to car park exit, stalls, start up boot it out of car park then all is fine. Ill see if this changes.

Although I have an issue with the barometric pressure signal wire (or the melted connector into the ecu really) which I believe the MAF uses as a reference etc so could be down to that

I went out for a hoon

    image.jpg

    image.jpg

I'm lucky to have some pretty awesome driving roads that start around 15 mins away from my doorstep. God's own county is amazing especially when you are out for a drive as the sun is setting. Lovely clear roads and some very smooth tarmac on some sections. Allows for some high speed cornering and hooning.

Ticked over to 60k during the trip
    image.jpg

Should hopefully have my brembos back soon, been waiting to switch over to my 17" wheels. Still on winter tyres on stock wheels but they are gripping well. Can't wait to see how it handles and stops on bigger wheels with summer rubber and proper geo setup along with brembos.
