Pics to follow but I have reached a workaround with my HID's and Angel Eyes finally.

I started the day with the intentions of installing the wideband lambda sensor but after crawling under the car to realise that I only had a maximum spanner size of 17mm and the sensor nut is bigger than that, I decided to save it for another day.

Today I have mostly been fitting a towbar.

I got this from Nick Mann, he'd picked it up a few years ago and it was on storage in his garage since.

Turns out it was actually for a Galant saloon, rather than a Legnum, so some minor adjustments to the brackets were required, namely a corner sliced off where the tailgate opening is, as the Legnum opening is wider than the saloon opening.

However, it's all fitted now, just need to wire up the secondary electrical plug, just on case I should I ever decide to tow a caravan...

changed the colour of the dials:

    20141208_193348 (Medium).jpg

Followed by changing the colour of the climate control:

    20141208_203515 (Medium).jpg

    20141208_203520 (Medium).jpg

Both of these were done using absolutely zero technical skill at all and using all standard bulbs etc. Used some red sticky tinted film, put 2 layers on all things see through plastic. This cost me £3.75 (well £7.50 coz I tried the blue first but it looked gash)

that is a nice alternative way of doing it. it save replacing the cold cathode lights which can be a bit of a pain.

Was originally looking at doing the cold cathode tube swap but couldnt find the right size etc. Then started looking at led's, bulb covers, coloured bulbs etc etc. Then just figured id try the simplest and cheapest method.

I have Colin to thank as he was my inspiration for finally doing this after seeing his red dials at Area 52. Just figured id do the climate control too. Next may have to be the clock as its the odd one out and is of the typical temperamental variety that decides when to work and not, so it needs removing anyway.

if the clock goes off on it own, just resolder the pins that join the screen to the main PCB and it will work great again. they suffer for dry joints and a resolder will make it work.

Thats the plan Dave had he same in the purple vr4. A week after resoldering it I took it out to install the ebc there instead haha. Think i still have that clock somewhere so could just do a straight swap and fix this one slow time.

I like that, Never thought of doing the same to the a/c controls. Think I know what I'll be doing at the weekend now. You keeping the red needles as well?

Re-soldered the clock today, just the 1 joint looked cracked a little but did them all for good measure just to keep @Davezj happy seen as he loves the solder

Also it wouldve been rude not to change the colour of the clock whilst it was out so I did this too:

    20141209_165219 (Medium).jpg

Just need to ditch the brand new digital boost gauge with a red one haha.

Cheers mate I really like the red look. As for the needles I do not know, I love the red and dont think it looks out of place matching but I do like yours with the blue needles. I have a spare set of dash clocks so have stripped the red paint off the underside of them ready to paint them blue and see how it looks.

Oh and by the way for all those pedantic ocd people I changed the time on the clock after the pic was taken so it now shows the right time

you should have covered the car last night it would have been so funny you would have had a great laugh doing it.

but still this morning you would have had to have gone out and bought a new cover as you would have discovered some arse had come along during the night night and ripped your loverly car cover you had carefully placed on the car the night before.

it is so much more fun doing really unimportant things when you are quite pi*sed. great laugh.

but with a hangover, even the smallest task is so difficult to do.

Haha I could just about get my bed covers on lmao

Certainly more fun doing things whilst 'under the influence'. Some of @gadboy007 and mines best mechanics have been done whilst tw@tted. I remember a certain midnight exhaust and downpipe swap fueled by a box or 2 of Australias finest nectar

The garden looked like the morning after a frat house party but the exhaust stayed put for 2 years
