Or should i say registration day to my car, it is now 13 years today that it was first registered.
And that's in the UK,
so i make it one of the youngest around ????
Unless you have one that was registered before the end of 2002 or in 2003 ???

For the proper age, you need to have a check of the chassis code. Some "official" cars in the UK were registered more than a year after they were made! I had a car registered in July (I think?) 2001 but it was actually made before May 2000.
Nick
I think mine was made at a earlier time but not sold till 2002 so I am only going by that
Someone did tell me when it was made but can't remember when.
Fair enough if you already know. I was only mentioning because anyone who has imported one or bought one that wasn't imported brand new has to register it as new at date of manufacture. So there could be younger cars than yours but registered as older.
I can't decide what is more useful to know tbh. Is it better to know when the car was used from or when it was built? Both are interesting!
Nick,
As far as i know it was imported by Mitsubishi and then registered as new by them,
When i worked at a Mitsubishi they would get in a number of cars that they would sell and reg as new, so a cars that came in January may not get sold till say November but would be registered as new.
To me it's nice to know when it was made from a spec point but it's when you drive it on the road that's when i say you are driving a new car from.
So on that note i say mine was new on the 24th December 2002..............................
Unless you know different
Heh! Absolutely, and happy birthday!
Hypothetically, how long could a car sit unregistered for before it is no longer new when it is first registered? 1 year? 5 years? At some point it will need all its rubber parts changing before you can drive it. Unless it is protected well at some point it will go rusty etc. If there was a VR4 sitting in a warehouse somewhere that had never been registered would it still be a new car?
Are there still airfields full of new unregistered car in the uk. Sat outside getting wet, Ivey, snow coveted, scorched bey the sun, etc, before they go on sale.
There always used to be.
Bye for Now!
Are all cars that are made in the uk now made to order???
So you don't get the fields of cars waiting to be sold, back then i think the spec of cars was very limited so they could make them like that.
Mitsubishi's did come into the country with a protective wax coat all over car and was only taken off when sold,
My car still has some on it by the bonnet hinges so i have just left it there you do need to use paraffin to get it off
though.
Another year on so happy birthday again, still don't drive it as much as I would like so roll on to next year and hopefully I get what I want done.
BTW Merry Christmas everyone
...to the baby Jesus
Possibly the only VR4 that was driven by the current owner before being registered..... & it's a UK car
