    Hi Adam,
I think the issue could be the resistance of the coil in the solenoids it changes with age and draws to much or to little current and it is this that throws the code up 72.
Corroded contacts, dodgy wiring. I can bob round and you can measure the resistance of my solenoids and compare the values.

The speed sensor 24 code could be due to the speed sensor wire from the ECU being cut to remove the max speed restriction of 112mph.
We used to do this before the ECU was flashable and the seed limit could be raised via the table in the ECU.

What Dave said. There is a quoted value somewhere on the forums, from memory it is around 40 ohms. However, my memory is less than reliable!

So depending on if your resistance is high or low you could put a resistor in series or parallel to bring it back into spec.
But it depends on how expensive the solenoids are to replace.

Small update, its almost a year since I acquired duck, how times flying is unreal, anyway as I just check and we did 2200 km in it (1360 miles) since Jan so im seriously must rethink LPG conv as so far I used about 300 ltrs of petrol (about £350) of course it its converted then it will be used more often, but still it will take a lot to recoup investment.

Anyway lets move on, on last sat I fit refurbed evo 7 wheels
    this is b4

and today, not the best photo

    and close up

    20170903_222102.jpg

Im very happy how they end up being diamond cut, I wasn't sure as I never seen them done this way but I love them.

Back to my TCL issue, also last sat Dave lend me his working solenoids and we drove to and back Area52 (200 miles) and got no lights on the dash, so at least we narrow options where is the issue, after swapping them back to my old ones TCL light pops back on, but only after short run, so I did check them with manual and they both fine and in spec, resistance wise and both clicking when connected to battery, WTF me think, so go for a ride and then check them again, viola bottom one dead, no resistance and no click when applying power, but OK when cooled down. there is offending one

So before ordering them from JP I ask there first and looks like there's few kicking about ( thanks guys, this place is simply awesome)

Hopefully that will sort out TCL issues for good.

One last thing worth to mention (and issue to sort out) is raise its ugly head after visit on dyno, something make duck running off the scale rich and, probably, why is about 30BHP down on power. Any suggestions are, as usually, very welcome. I will plug in my portable afr kit to confirm that and will start from having closer look on fpr solenoid and surroundings pipes.

Looking forward to get my ponies back !!!

    Looking good.

comparing to the AFR table (i can only find my printed copy, sorry no link) it looks like the car is tracking the 120 then 140% tables pretty closely, but with a big offset down.

So ends my ability to help, other than questions like lambda sensor, up-rated injectors, FPR failed, intake blockage?

Manifold pressure (boost) very very late, you are on wastegate base for almost half of graph plot. May be a massive boost leak, sticky wastegate actuator or solenoid, sir.
Running so rich etc. Injectors to ultrasound clean and refurb for starters
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

It has been tested for boost leaks and it has none at all, I wont be surprised if most (or all) solenoids are fubared, may I've been a bit to hard on them with pressure washer

At least I have manual how to test them and this amazing place to get them if needed (most likely) just they are both live deep in engine bay so need more than 2 minutes to take them out, maybe tomorrow. Thanks for input.

Just checked my other vr4 graph when it was in 'virgin' state and it looks very similar to that one, bar FL slightly higher boost, afrs are at least within graph

I remember seeing a graph like the one in post #86. But I don't remember whose.

I also remember that one of the weird boost/afr graphs I have seen was due to the plumbing on the FPR solenoid and boost solenoid being mixed up. But I don't remember if that was the weird graph that was like this weird graph!

Its weird Nick but we sort it out sonner or later.

On plus side, solenoids from @Confused arrived and are fitted already, have a short run about, where tcl light usually pops on, its all good with new solenoids so looks like one thing can be mark as sorted , Thanks Garry!!!

It should be fairly straight forward to test and sort out.
Give me a shout once you have run the duck with the mobile wideband and verified you can repeat the dyno result with respect to AFR. Then we can have a route around and check all the pipework and operation of the solenoids.

Small update, I think I find out why it was running so rich, fuel pressure solenoid was fubared, I borrow one off black one, which is good, for now, not feel much difference and didn't check afrs yet.

Surgery went smoothly, well apart from waiting ages for parts, new crank seal fitted as old one perish and let oil leak, new water pump and comple cambelt kit fitted. It's quite as a mouse with new AUX belts and tensioner. IMG_20210725_155218.jpgIMG_20210725_155211.jpgIMG_20210725_155224.jpgIMG_20210725_164329.jpgIMG_20210725_155154.jpg
