    Brake and suspension upgrades

Hi, I have a 99 import type V VR4, (I believe it's a facelift) and since I first bought her, I've been aware of how poor the braking is. Now I've seen a few threads about Brembo calipers, bigger discs, and better suspension coming as standard on the Ralliart UKDM version. How easy would it be to source these, and more importantly, fit them. Does it require new hubs, or is it a straight fit up.
I'm sure there is a thread, but have searched.
    Thanks for the assistance guys.

Facelift hub carriers fit Evo 4 Brembos directly so no need to change anything from what i remember

You can find loads of Evo 4 brembos on Ebay so that shouldn't be an issue.

In the short term, some people just look to upgrade their pads to something a bit better. Carbotec do a pad called an XP8 which is a road/race pad. I used it on my VR4 many moons ago and they were excellent

Just to clear, evo 4-9 brembo will fit p&p to facelift legnum, but you need wheels which clear brembo calipers too, again any evo 4-9 wheels will be p&p and will clear brembos

Just to be clear, 'UKDM' VR-4s had the same brakes and suspension as JDM VR-4s. Because they are actually JDM VR-4s, albeit ones officially sold by Mitsi in the UK.

I'm not in a position to replace alloys as well as the braking system at the moment, although I have taken a fancy to the Evo 9 Enkei's.
Thanks for the info re UKDM to JDM, however, that doesn't answer the question regarding Type V spec compared to Ralliart edition, as I'd hope they might not need new wheels to make them fit.

There's no such thing as Ralliart version of 8G Galant or Legnum VR4, they came from Japan in two main specs TypeV and TypeS and then non turbo STR, Ralliart officially imported about 200 pieces and did poor under seal, converted spedo to MPH and stick on rear fog light, that was basically it, no upgraded brakes, suspension or wheels has been fitted to them. Some got a ralliart badge at the back too.

As Adam says, anything pertaining to be a Ralliart Edition is having a bit of a fun. All 8th generation VR4s came out of the factory with 16" wheels and the same suspension. There was a very rare ralliart suspension setup but I am not sure if that was just a dealer option. For Brembos you need 17" wheels and a spoke design with enough clearance. At least with a facelift you can bolt everything on without too much trouble.

Ok, I stand corrected, thanks all for the information.
I think the upgrade will have to wait then!

Forgive me for digging up an old thread but when people fitted the rear brembo calipers what hoses did you use? Are standard evo rear hoses the correct length? Thanks

Yes you need Evo style rear hoses as it needs a banjo fitting to connect up the caliper.

Did you get the Evo rear caliper bolts as well, the vr4 ones are to long and will touch the new disk.
Also the dust back plate has to either removed or modified to get the disk to fit propperly.
