Indeed it is. It is wireless - so there's no wire between the control unit in the boot and the display, although I got mine many years ago, it is essentially this.

I have hard-wired the display to an ignition switched feed, and run the cable up the driver's side A pillar.

The control unit is powered from the reversing light wiring in the boot.

It works well - it seems accurate, and I know that when backing up to my garage, 1.0 will still allow me to open the garage door, but 0.9 is too close, and it hits the underneath of the LEGNUM lettering on the tailgate

Excellent, Thanks. I think that's got to go on the shopping list now, especially as the bumper is coming off soon to fit a towbar.

Well, I finally got round to making & fitting them!

It does now mean it's more difficult to shut the bonnet, but I can open it one-handed, and don't need to mess around with the bonnet stay, which is nice, and it has no other practical or performance purposes, but I'd wanted to do it for a while, and it's done now!
    Hi Gary,
I had these on my car and loved them when I first put them on but after a while they damaged my bonnet by bending it to close it.
I was told by body shop that it broke the support bar on the underside broke as the adesvive that sticks it on.
Also the top of the wings and underside edge on bonnet started to rust in the end I replaced the bonnet and had the front repainted.
I have photos of it somewhere so I would keep a eye on it.
Sorry to be negative but thought you would like to know.

I have had some fitted for a while. No bonnet bending but they are rubbing. On my lust of stuff to do is protect the metal again and add a couple of rubber strips to prevent it happening again.

There is a small potential performance benefit, the stay sits in the path of the air flow from the grill to the snorkel....

I was going to mention that too!

I have a set of bonnet struts in the garage. Only had them five or six years!

I mentioned this back around 2005 at Santa Pod. I removed the bonnet stay and clocked a time 1/10th faster than I had previously been able to manage
I also cut away the grilled bit in the front grille

Did a full fluid change over the weekend:

    Engine
    Gearbox
    Transfer box
    Rear diff gear
    AYC

Gearbox especially was very overdue - the fluid wasn't very red any more, and recently it's had a harder life with towing caravan and Anglia around!

I've also had a headlight fail, and blow a fuse. I thought it was just the old HID bulbs failing, but after putting a standard bulb in, that too has stopped working, and blown the fuse again. So - some kind of wiring issue I've got to try to track down - maybe a short somewhere in the loom Some investigation needed!

Shining up against the garage they look pretty good, but haven't been out on the road yet!

Have now completed the next step of longevity for the car, and have replaced cam belt, water pump, lash adjusters, and cam cover gaskets/plug seals.

Armed with the VR-4 cambelt change thread printed out as guidance, I made a start on stripping down the car to replace all the above mentioned bits.

    Unfortunately the weather wasn't great...
    2018-04-02 10.41.10.jpg

But wrapped up warm, I pulled it to bits, and ended up with the belt & waterpump off:

Plenty of oil all around here, and the old belt had a light misting of oil all over it. I also replaced the crank oil seal while I was this far in.

So off with the cam covers, and I also took the cams right out to replace the lash adjusters, as well as cam seals.

And put it all back together:

And it fired up into life!

I had a small issue with ABS and TCL light coming on, as well as brake pedal pulsing under foot. A quick look under the car, I found a small issue with an ABS ring.

    2018-06-05 18.13.02.jpg

I was expecting a small crack, leaving a gap between two teeth, wasn't expecting to have a big chunk missing!

So, apart it came to extract the driveshaft and replace the ABS ring with a new one.

I also had a little rumbling coming from the front end, so also replaced a wheel bearing while it was all apart, it was rather rusted in, so needed some gentle persuasion to remove...

With a new bearing installed, noise gone, and also fuel consumption appears to be improved slightly!
