    Injector flow rate size?

I did clean the injectors last weekend, and when I measured the flow rate, they were about 200cc per min. Actually, I have 2 sets of injectors, 1 from a breaking VR4, and the other set is from my car, and all 11 of injectors are around 200cc, and 1 is much less than the others.

I set the machine to 2.4 bar, and then fully open injection for 15 seconds and they are all around 50cc, so around 200cc for 1 minute. I have also set to 3 bar, and there are around 5x - 60 cc for 15 sec.

It is wired that every one of us knows the injector is 390cc, so, do you guys know how to measure the flow rate correctly? Did I set something wrong?

Nice bit of kit for flow testing.

I think you are doing the right thing. 15 seconds x4 to give flow rate per minute.
You need to be using about 43 psi (about 3bar) for base pressure is good, but you have to remember at wide open throttle you will be at base fuel pressure plus whatever boost you are running say 14 psi so you can test the injector at 57psi (about 4bar) and see what the flow rate is.
It will be higher than the 200cc per minute.
What fluid are you using to clean the injectors. You could try neat Redex or the American chemdip. Or some other solvent maybe carb cleaner.
I would say when sonicating the injectors you can back flush them by connecting a feed pipe to the exit tip and a return pipe to the input of the injector and pump the fluid backwards through the injectors, this can remove any crap that is in lodged in the injector inlet. Oh I would remove the filter basket from the injector before doing this. You will trash the filter basket when removing it, but would can get more of them.
Oh and you might want some new injector seals if you are going to replace yours.
It just so happens I can provide a injector seal kit with filter baskets for £18 rather than the £80 mitsubishi wants.

thanks Dave, I thought 3 bar is enough to do the testing for typical measurement. Let me try 4 bar next time. I don't know what fluid it is, but smells like some kind of solvent, and since the machine is from my friend's garage, so he helped me out to clean those injectors. I changed new injecotr seals, but, ouch, I didn't replace the filter basket, as there is no "N" in the service manual..... sigh....

If want to change the filter baskets drop me a pm and I can send you a set I have spare for free.
You just have to be careful when removing the old filters with a screw that the screw is big enough to bite on the brass collar at the entrance of the injector so the screw does not go down inside the injector otherwise you can damage the injector .

Thanks a lot for that first, Dave, but I live in Far Far Away counrtry, hahaha.... in HK. Also, I guess I won't remove and clean the injectors in near future, so I don't need the baskets at the moment, thanks anyway.

BTW, just thinking, does the basket need to be removed for the flow rate test? I didn't remove them when measuring the flow rate.

There are lots of different types and sizes of injector filter baskets. Make sure you get the correct ones that will not restrict the flow with too much plastic verses filter material.
Oh and be carful when replacing them. Use a screw that grips the metal ring at the top of the basket to pull the filter out, don't screw it down into the basket or you run the risk of damaging the injector.
On the standard factory injectors you have about 10mm at the top of the injector before you hit the sensitive part of the injector.
    Be careful.

Oh, not 6mm x 12 mm? I thought the 6mm x 12mm is commonly used with Bosch injector

I am not talking about the screw required when I say 10mm. I am talking about the length of screw protrusion In to the injector that will trash the injector.
    It is only 10mm.
Use whatever screw you want. Just don't screw it in more than 10mm.

I just had my Evo 4 510cc injectors sonic cleaned serviced and flow tested and they all came out at 57cc @50psi. I would have thought 50psi would be about right when testing as factory 43psi + 7ish boost?
