    Headlight questions

Hi all, just got a spare set of headlights (Thanks Pritpal) for a little idea of mine but have a couple of questions

1st, There is a black "mask" screwed to the clear glass/plastic piece, my question is does this have to be there or can it be removed?

2nd, What did you guys do in relation to removing the old sticky sealant ready for resealing?

    Any help greatly appreciated
    Cheers

    1) Yes, it can be unscrewed - but it looks fairly ugly without as you can see all the mechanism for adjusting the lights
    2) I didn't remove it - I just warmed the unit up to remove the front cover, then warmed it up again when re-sealing, and it's been perfect with no water ingress for 5+ years.

    As above.
Heat up and separate and then heat and re seal, don't remove the sealant.

what I do with my sets - I put it them in the oven

    - pre-heat the oven to 150°C
    - I use carboard so the headlight housing isn't touching any metal bits as it'll leave marks
    - bake it in for 4 to 5 minutes
    - when 4-5 minutes is up, take out and unclip the tabs... then pry it by pushing on the clear lens whilst keeping an eye on the tabs, as they can snag and possibly break.

*note.. remove the white plastic cover near the indicator as this will go out of shape*
