    Finally got my car back

WOOO HOOOOO got my Uber Fridge back last week and the gearbox feels mint again (with oil this time)
Got a new clutch fitted at the same time as I think the old one was slipping, seems to put the power down heaps better now.

Here's a breakdown of the costs involved (incase anyone think's it's not important to check there gearbox oil)

    1. Towing from National Park to auckland........ 385.00
    2. Clutch kit .................................................. ... 1343.09
    3. Second Hand recon box .............................. 1875.00
    4. Machined flywheel .......................................... 65.00
    5. 5 Litres of Gearbox oil .....................................78.84
    6. 3 exh flange gaskets .......................................84.60
    7. Labour............................................ .................720.00
    ---------
    Total .................................................. .............. 4557.53
    ---------
    GST............................................... .................... 568.25
    ---------
    Total +GST .................................................. .... 5119.78

So there we have it, the moral of the story is, even tho you get the car serviced at the dealership you buy the car from AND get a AA check done for 200 bucks NEVER TRUST ANYONE!!!!! always check the car out yourself when you get it home!!!!

so goood to have my car back tho

Glad to hear you've got it back mate, I take it you have to allow it time to bed in before you can have some real fun.

Amazing that the clutch is almost as expensive as the recon box. Is it a standard mitsy clutch, or an after market double or triple?

yeh, not quite sure how long I should be gentle with it, I have been driving quick but no rough jerky take off's and no holding it on the clutch so to speak... The clutch is just a standard part, I thought about the twin plate but didn't want to lose the drivablilty... we will just see how long it lasts

I would feel like that (and did with my previous car) if it was something wrong with the car. I cant think of any car where the gearbox is designed to run without lubrication. I'm impressed the gearbox lasted 4 months or so to begin with.

I love my car, and don't blame it or VR4's for what happened so quite happy to hold on to it for a while yet.

I got the work done by a gear box specilist and a good friend of mine in Auckland called Keith Sullivan - he has workshop space rented by Paul chong motors on the north Shore. did a good job of it to.

Am I right in saying that $NZD 5119 is about £1,980?
