    SRS airbag light on dash

I've managed to source a set of black leather for my V6 Sport. The blue cloth interior I took out had a loom connecting to the car, but the leather I put in does not have this loom or seat airbags. I'm sure the SRS light on the dash will be an MOT fail. What is the best way to get around this? Thanks guys

The SRS light on a dash is a definite MOT failure.

You can fake an airbag with a 2.7 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor - if that doesn't work try a higher resistance 3.3 ohm / 3.9 ohm (note: NOT kilo or mega ohms).

I suggest you disconnect the battery before making those changes.

That makes literally no sense to me sorry haha. Is there a bulb in the dash I could take out? Technically there is no fault with the airbags as there is no airbags fitted to the seat anymore...

Is there something I could rip out the old seats to rectify the issue?

MOT test has to ensure the light comes on and then goes off for SRS.

It's measuring the resistance of the airbag explosive igniter so unless you wanna pull that out of the airbag in the other seats then nope

I'll try and simplify it. You need a resistor (electrical component) to jam into the loom connectors where the seat airbag used to be. That then tricks the SRS ECU into thinking it's present and accounted for.

You can get said resistors from Maplin. 1/4 watt is the size, 2.7 Ohms is the resistance value. Ask for those and they can supply.

Alternatively put your old seats back in for the MOT?

Ok that makes more sense, my electrical knowledge is poor at best, sorry!

When you say jam it in, do you mean literally? I still have the old loom from the original seats, will that be any use?

My SRS light has been on for nine years, and always got through the MoT, until last year. The tester said that the light staying on was a fail, but the light not coming on at all was an advisory, so the bulb was removed accordingly!
