    Garage day with confused?

Who would like a garage day with confused? Personally I would even if just for the chat and to get my head around a few things,I have a list of things I'd like to sort out on my legnum, if there is enough interest he may organise one?

I search the forum a lot and read through threads but still don't get some stuff you guys are saying 1.03 this and version 2.0 something else which I'm guessing is to do with the ecu then saying that it can run set settings for petrol then different settings for lpg? Which really throws me off as I thought an edu just did one thing and that's that, especially a ecu this old.

My list comprises of things like
    Swap fluids, plugs, belts
Get new abs pump, my creaks and scrapes and feels like it's pumping against my foot at same time,
Find out why my Windows are wet on the inside, all the time, which makes me have to wait until it's gone which takes a while,
    Cold start issue
    Misfiring when idling
Sort bad brakes, swap for evo calipers that I have, front and rear
    Investigate possible slipping clutch
Find out why it's low on power

The wet windows will be caused by water in the car. Check you are not loosing coolant (i'm paranoid about this!).
    Too much is just enough.

I've heard that it is possible with the dash in. It is going to be awkward though!

Are the 2000 ish year hap cars built well? I had to take a couple of dashboard out of 1990 peugeot 205s to repair blower motor and replace heater matrix, had to be really careful as the plastic had gotten brittle over the years but it was doable, just finding all the hidden screws behinds panels and switches is the hardest part

Find the leak before you start removing the dash!

I'm waiting on an update from Eurospec on the status of our ECU group buy (they were sent the wrong ones, now waiting for the correct ones) and my clutch, then I'll pick a date

On your list though, there's a few things you can look into now.

As others have said, try to figure out why it's wet inside.
For ABS, are you sure it's the pump, and not a wheel sensor reporting incorrectly, due to a broken sensor or ABS toothed reluctor tone ring?
A full cambelt service is a full day's work for someone who knows what they're doing, but we can help with the fluid changes.
Yours is an auto, right? So you won't have a clutch slipping, but might just need your gearbox fluid replacing, which we've already discussed, or it's just that you're misunderstanding how the gearbox works.

Well to bo honest I've never worked on and before so never done any fault finding all I know is it's a scraping noise that sounds like it's scraping at the same time as pumping not one long scrape noise, then before i come to a stop it smoothes and brakes like a normal car.

Regards gearbox your probably right but I notice that if I want to change lanes on motorway for example I'll increase rpm about 500 -1000 but the speed very slowly increases,

I'll have a look on autodata and see exactly what's involved in changing the timing belt, full day sounds like a garage would charge a fortune for it

Are there any fault codes for the ABS stored? You'll want to first off do the "flash dash" (see the link in my signature) to pull any stored fault codes - this may point you at a cheaper and easier fix than replacing the ABS pump.

The cam belt isn't particularly "tricky" per-se, but it is a time-consuming job. There's a great article here.

My "garage day" usually is a weekend, and people are welcome to stay over, so if you wanted to do a bigger job, then I'm sure it'll be fine, and people will be able to give a hand if needed

Your gearbox sounds more like it's just the torque converter doing it's job - unless it's shifted down a gear, it'll have unlocked the torque converter, gently accelerate, and then when you lift off the throttle again when you've reached your desired speed it'll lock the converter again.

Ahh right, very complex this gearbox, I tried to scan the car with a obd2 scanner but it wouldn't read it at all, works on other cars, my friend said he'd bring a snap on reader but hasn't as of yet, I'll check that article out on a break, thanks

Our cars are not OBD2 unfortunately. For error codes you need a highly specialised tool called a "Paper Clip", cross a couple of pins and watch the dash light up.
There is a piece of software that you can use called "Evoscan" which will give you logging and that kind of thing through the same port. I think the protocol is called MUTS or something similar.
