I've been tempted recently to spend a few quid on a new family car. I really like the XFRs such as this one :

Has anyone owned one? Got any advice?

I'd like the Sportbrake version. That only comes in R-S guise though. No advice I'm afraid, I have no experience of them, but the XF owners I do know (all diseasels) are happy with their cars. I have driven a diseasel sport brake and quite liked it. It wasn't a performance model so I guess that the handling would be sharper than the one I drove. The main critisism in the press seemed to be a clunky infotainment system but I didn't mind it myself.
Good luck looking, I'd be interested to hear what you think in the long term!
i think gib had an XFR for a while.
Bye for Now!
Just spoke to my mate about this car. He worked as a mechanic in JLR. He said in general its a good car. Most common problems were engine overheat and timing chain can jump over few teeth and thats a major job then.

Always good to know.
I love the look and if i can just about get my head around the fuel costs it would be awesome lol. It'll be like driving my VR4 day to day again!
I had a chance to use XF Sport diesel (280 bhp model) for few days (temporary replacement as my company car went for big service). Well, feels much heavier than VR4, but steering and handling surprisingly good. Power band and torque delivery... wow, IMO much better than VR4. Real fun to drive. Now considering that model as replacement for my E8 if anything goes wrong with my Evo Great fuel economy tho.
Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar
