    AYC Pipes dimensions needed

    Hello All

I had the dreaded AYC light staying on and after getting a new pressure switch from Malc , and adjusting it a bit, the light went off and AYC was working properly again for a few weeks.

However, the light came on again today and after a quick look, noticed a pin hole in one of the pipes coming from the pump , just before the first bend. Tried to get the pipes to undo, but they are seized both ends.

Want to cut the pipe and replace it, which means getting new pipe, suitable flaring tool and fittings.

Problem is . it's not standard 3/16 brake pipe. Quick check with calipers and it seems to have an OD of 8mm ( 5/16th ).

Had a google and can find 5/16th pipe but not fittings.

Anyone know exactly what pipe and fittings I need to get and where to get them from ?

Sorry, no idea. However if you pull the AYC fuse in the engine bay you can drain the pump part of the AYC system and continue to use the car. That would enable you to use the car whilst you had the stuff in your hands to compare with replacements.
Is it possible that some fuel lines would use that size pipework?

Yes already pulled the fuse, can't really pull cut pipes and mess about without replacements as the car is overdue it's MOT. Might have to get through the MOT and strip it afterwards.

Someone must know what the dimensions are or what size of braided I need to get ?

Don't know if this helps, but might be easier than fannying around with your own making

After ordering online the only message I received was from Pay pal, no order received email nothing. I left it two weeks and then I phoned them. They said the AYC hoses were made to order by an external supplier and should be arriving soon. Two more weeks later they have arrived, just as I was about to hit refund button.

Just a heads up if anyone else decides to purchase, they take ages to come. Just need time and decent weather to fit them.

This is another place where you can get them: http://auto.helperformance.com/mitsu...lant-vr4-10921

I have them and they work great.
The more you know, the faster you can go. And I still don't know enough.
