    Trust issues

I bought a legnum vr4 off here and was assured it would have a genuine mot n he gave me a story about how he got screwed once n wouldn't do that to anyone else, long story short it had 12 month's on it with bald rear tyres and no washer jets.

Moving on my legnum needs a paint job, a proper paint job, doors off the lot, maybe even a bit of welding and an underseal to keep future rust the f*** away from my toy/still quite practicle if need be car, anyway my friend had his car in for a full respray, a tiny peugeot 205 gti in red, being painted in red! Paid £1300 which is a lot considering we completely gutted the Car for the garage, and took all interior, body trim, windscreen, all windows home!!!

Now when 99% of people get a respray they drop the car off n that's it, we did all this work for them paid £1300 and they didn't do the best job, it was absolutely gutting to be fair, at first it looks awesome your excited to get it back together and on the road so don't notice stuff but it was crap!

Since then I've really been put off using anyone, even going to an expensive garage could churn out the same ****e as a cheap one, does anyone recommend a good body shop tbat they would use or have used themselves? In or around the northwest? Willing to travel and leave the car writhin reason

Hi there, are you sure you need a full... full resprsy, is it that bad. i would expect to pay around that price for a professional respray but wouldn't have expected the whole car to be gutted to get a professional finish.
I had my VR4( pearl white )painted few years back at 'Barclays Bodyshop' next to Toyota in Warrington they are situated on A49 outward bound of the town towards Manchester and are really good an approved insurance repairers but i reckon your going to have abit of a wait as they are always busy. Sorry i havn't got the number. Think it all depends on how much you want to spend like most things.

Thanks for that, I will get the car in for a quote when i get a chance, I say full respray because pretty much everyone says the legnum is terrible for rust, so I'm not sure how bad it is in the places I can't see. It did have £1100 worth of welding and repairs done by eurospec not long ago, so if they are as good as people say there shouldn't be any issues where they did repairs, my rear quarter is bubbling next to the arch trim and around the filler cap is rusting, hoping these can easily be repaired.

I just want that showroom look of top quality, wanna smile when i look at it, I'm going to keep the original colour, not sure what it's called muerve blue or something, not my favourite colour but might look better when it's new, also makes the respray easier.

£1300 and you expected a showroom finish?

Pay peanuts and you’ll get monkeys working on your car!

To put this into context, I paid almost a grand to get my rear quarter and door resprayed after a car park incident on my old pearl white Evo X. For a PROPER paint job on something like a Legnum by a PROPER bodyshop I’d budget for £3k or so and then up to £800 for a proper detailer to give it a once over afterwards.

Yes I would agree with Giblet.
3k min for a full respray. clear coat will still be orange peely for that money. It will need a wet sand and then Full detail to get a showroom finish.
A Good paint job cost a lot of money.

The chap who did my X came recommended by my detailer - Obsidian Detailing who is based near Saddleworth. Between the 2 of them I’m certain they could get you the finish you want.
