    Clutch and gear problems

    Hi club,I have recently put in a second hand clutch kit into my 1998 vr4 twin turbo, it has taken me awhile to get the clutch pedal to pressurise,but finally getting there I've tryed different way to bleed the system,now the problems is that I can only get 1st,3rd and 5th gear and grinds when you try find 2nd 4th or reverse,please any ideas how to fix this?

    It could well be that the clutch is not fully disengaging. Can you vacuum bleed the clutch?

    Also, what gearbox oil did you use? It should be GL4 and not GL5.

    I thought about pressurized bleeding,getting a full flush of everything,,and I can't even tell you what oil,

    as per one of your other threads: linkage seems suspect, you aren't getting any "down" gears, so check the cables and bushings from the stick to the box.

    OK EASY!....
    If messaged you on another thread about this problem but you didn't say anything about the gears actually grinding.
    So there is now a different path of diagnosis to follow instead.
    Check if you can get all the gears, 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th & reverse, engine off /not running. If all the gears are selectable this way.... then your problem is with the clutch you've fitted.
    If you still cant get the downward gears your problem is with the gear cables or selector mechanism of the gearbox.
