6a13tt are both turbo cores the same?

    Hi guys,
Just a quick question ive come across some guy that had a bunch of vr4 engine bits from an old rebuild he completed years ago. tells me in a box are couple of turbo cores that i can have. But.... he cant tell me from which vr4 they where off and i have no pictures.or wether they are both front, both rears or 1 of each.
I can think for the life of me about wether there are any differences but something tells me there not exactly the same.
    Can anyone enlighten me?

I've got a pair of rear turbos on my Anglia, and I've swapped both cores over the last couple of years - I've not noticed any differences, and I'm sure what I've put in has come from a front & rear set.

The housings are slightly different but as far as I know the cores are the same.

    CONFIRMED......

I can confirm both turbo cores of the 6a13tt are 'DIFFERENT' they are sided. (Front & Rear)
Oil feeds and returns are exactly the same but the threaded banjo water pipe pick up points are in different position to allow the pipework to fit around the engine.

    Here Goes!....

    FRONT TURBO
    * The forward turbo core, front water pipe uses the 'TOP' while the rear pipe uses the 'LOWER' (both other points are capped and not threaded)

    REAR TURBO
    * The Rear turbo core front water pipe also uses the 'TOP' but!....
(this is the difference... while the rear water pipe uses the 'TOP' as well. (both other points are capped and not threaded)

    CONCLUSION!
You can not swap the cores unless you change the pipework.

Got any photos? I get that you mean that the water pipe connections are slightly different but a picture speaks a thousand words.....

Yes sorry.... Here are my fresh built hybrids side by side. it is plain to see why they cant be swapped over without some engineering work.

The compressor housings were machined out from the:
    ID 32/40 EX,D turbine to accommodate a larger : ID 35.2/46 EX,D. turbine.
Here's a picture of the two wheels side ny side, im guessing theres not much scope with such a small turbo anyway but there should be some gains.

Paul Bonner has tweaked his turbos. I don't know the details though. In the past a couple of people have tried but have been a little aloof about details and results.

Looking into hybrid turbos myself for my vr4, would you recommend the place you got the work done? £390 sounds a good price
