    Fixing a Leak

Okay lads, I need just a bit of help here.

I noticed a leak in an area where it's annoyingly hard to get your hands in to fix stuff, and I honestly don't even know exactly what it is.

So far the leakage hasn't been catastrophic, but it's certainly not healthy, and with only complicated ideas of how to fix it, I'd rather ask for advice.
I know my baby could use new piping, but after not one but TWO ***** wrecking parts of the front and rear of my car, I've been busy fixing up the optics. If you notice anything else that might be catastrophic feel free to add though.

So you lot can see that it's not that I'm not taking care of my baby at all, I also attached me engine bay.

I have no idea why I have such a hard time figuring out what that line is, it's like a mental block or something.
Looking forward to ideas and some support.

    Cheers,
    Elric

That looks like the power steering line. Either the one going to or coming from the ps rack.

Thank you! That helps a heap already. Was my uneducated guess, but confirmation is better.
Any special trick to getting to the bugger?

At least I'm reasonable sure the tube is the leaking part.

I have never had to touch mines 🤞so I really don’t know how to access or remove it. Someone else should chime in and give some more help in that department soon.

The steering rack is an absolute pig to get at but it can be removed with the engine in place. Lots of swearing and you'll have to dismantle loads of stuff to get at it. It's been a long while since I did one but you may get access to check how tight the connections are by removing the downpipes and the north/south bar. This will allow you to rotate the engine from the bottom and get your hand in. You probably need to also remove the engine roll stopper mounting.

    Best of luck!

Has the power steering fluid level been dropping? Wouldn't want you to pull it all apart to find its a leak from a turbo oil feed/return or rocker cover instead that's just dropping down there to give a false impression as the colour is very dark for ps fluid

That's a good point. I haven't noticed a significant drop honestly, but I put that on the leak not being that bad.

I'll go check all the oil feeds before I dive down and tear it apart... I am certainly up for trying to avoid trying to get to the power steering line.

    Thanks, will report back.

Edit: I did notice that the car started having your typical "grrrnnnniii" noise when turning the steering wheel to it's max, it didn't even have that when I got it.

Silly as it seems, turns out it might well be my oil catch tank. It was leaking.
Down to where the power steering pipes go.

So I cleaned up the mess and now I'll have to drive a bit, put it on the elevator ( I hate that part ) and check again in a few weeks.
If it stays clean, no leak. If it starts getting all oily and leaky again, more stuff to do.
