    Auto gearbox problems

    Car its Legnum from 1997.
At the beginning gearbox drops out of gear from D to N, but I could still drive. At this moment, only the R works. The transmission does not select forward gears. In gearbox I changed oil, and input and output speed sensor, but still not working. Can you help me?

Can you be a bit more specific? Jumps from D to N? Presumably the gear lever doesn't move by itself? What do the dash lights do? Is the N flashing?

Also, multiple threads in different areas about the same subject is considered bad form. I have combined them in the gearbox section of the forum for you.

Looks like a vented bonnet (from profile pic) water on the speed sensors perhaps? Recently washed car?

Hey. I meant that on the dashboard. The light shows N when the gearshift is on D. I read on the forum and everything indicated that it was one of the sensors. I exchanged both, but it does not work anyway

No, unfortunately no. As I set the stick in position D this control is not lit, and N is not flashing.

Then I think it is likely that your gear linkage is the problem. Find the end of the gear cable on the gearbox. Put the lever in N. The lever on the gearbox has a hole in it that lines up with a hole on the gearbox case when in N. If they don't line up then loosen the nut on the cable end and adjust.

The other option is the selector mechanism is broken in the gearbox.

But in any case, the selector switch at the end of the cable lights the dash indicator so if D is not lit, then the switch can't be making contact for whatever reason. If the N light is solid and not flashing then the TCU is unaware there is a serious problem, it flashes if there is an issue with speed sensors, gear selection, oil temp etc.

Ok. Thanks. I will check the gear cable.
I checked all connections with the sensors and everything looks good. Today afternoon I will check the cable and let me know. Thanks again

Hi Nick Mann. I'll was checking that end of the gear cable, and everything is ok. The holes fit perfectly.
It's time to get new (used) gearbox. Anyway, thank you for your help.
