    idle air valve?

hi the engine mang light was on when i bought my latest v6 galant, the guy who sold it said it was a problem with the tps, (the car sometimes surges when you are slowing etc) so i replaced the tps and the light didn't do off and the car still surges although not so much i think. Anyway a friend said the other thing it may be is the idle air valve? but when i looked on ebay there were 3 different things that all claimed to be idle air valves for the galant. Could someone post a link to the one i actually might need, that'd be great. My galant is the v6 elegance 2002 thanks David.

The n/a V6 will have an Idle Speed Control Stepper motor.

They are known for exhibiting issues and sticking, and/or burning out the coils so they don't work properly.

Firstly, if you've still got the engine management light, you'll want to retrieve the fault codes: https://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showth...agnostic-Codes

The next best thing you can do is to do some logging of what's going on with a piece of software called "EvoScan" - the software and cable needed to do this can cost you under £30, and you will be able to perform lots of troubleshooting with this. This will also help you determine whether the TPS is working correctly.
