    I'm new around here...

    Hi all,

Thought I'd introduce myself as I'm pretty sold on the idea of getting a legnum vr4. I've always like fast practical cars and my last got stolen; now the insurance is finally settled i'm looking to get something half decent.

I've never got along with Auto/tiptronic cars in the past but from reading on this forum people seem to rate them. So I'm undecided about waiting for a manual to come up or going for an auto as the later seem to be far more common.

Anyway, cheers everyone, i'm looking forward to getting involved in vr4s.

The gearbox you choose depends on how you intend to drive it. Auto is awesome for launching reliably and stop start traffic. It is pretty impressive at track driving too although the manual has the edge in that scenario.

It's a bit six of one and half a dozen of the other!

    Enjoy your search and

Thanks! I don't have any plans to track this one, need something more on the reliable daily side of things. I doubt I'll rule out either and see what comes up.

I did see one up for sale it was a legnun 2.5 V6, I'm assuming it was a pre face lift but I'm guessing it isn't a vr4. Are there other non vr4 varients of the 2.5L?

    Welcome.

Take a test drive in an auto and you may be plesantly suprised. They are awesome from a standing start. The box learns your driving style and adapts the gearchanges to suit.
The manual box is more engaging to drive but they are rare.

Legnum is what the Japanese badged the Galant estate. There are lots of variants, including normally aspirated V6 versions.

Ah okay, good to know. Cheers all. When I'm "allowed" to post something up in the wanted area I will.

    Hi and welcome!

As others have said, the automatic gearbox on these cars isn't something to shy away from, in fact I think it suits the car very well.

Over the years, I've taken about 5 new members out for a spin in my auto, and all of them ended up buying an auto VR4! It does take a small amount of time to learn how the gearbox works (and for it to learn how you want it to work!), but once you know that, you can get it to do exactly what you want, when you want.

Unfortunately I'm not planning on being in Bristol again any time soon, otherwise I'd have met up with you to try to add one to my tally of convertees, but I'm sure someone will be near you who could give you a look around their VR4 and take you out for a spin

I've also fast-tracked your posting access, so you can put up a Wanted thread now

    Garry
