That must have had an amazing amount of work put into it! Must be great fun, I feel the Galant flies with the vr4 engine, but that must travel at the speed of light! I'll have a flick through the build thread.
I've got a 1967 volvo which I had been thinking about fitting a fun engine into it, but I'm unsure to whether I should restore it and keep it original.. did you have the same thoughts with the Anglia?
Professional bodger!
Not at all - I knew from the moment I got hold of it in 2003 I'd be modifying it - my dad's got one with an 1800cc Subaru with full 4wd, why would I want something standard and boring?
true.. much more interesting than standard.. Maybe I'll take that approach with the volvo once I've got hold of a workshop!!
Yeah I unfortunately wont be interested in any uprated coil packs as the car is almost certainly going to get parted out. I just want to investigate a couple issues before it does so I can be certain of the serviceability of parts. These cheap coil packs are a great way of doing just that.
I don’t know about part numbers but they are the same, I had a missfire issue with my vr4 on originals so I put a set of FTO ones in I had laying around too see it it helped it solved the issue I had intended to replace with vr4 items but never did they were in the car 2 years before I sold it with no issue
Did you guys get on well with the evo coil packs?
I meant to reply last week, but got distracted.
The left-most bank won't fit.
Due to the differing height and position of the lead outlet, it fouls against the cam cover, and wont sit down far enough to bolt down and/or make contact with the plug on the front bank.

I could have probably done what you've done, and fitted 2, and utilised the best of my 3 for that bank, but decided against that for the moment.
That’s a shame the far left one doesn’t fit, that’s good to know though. May it be possible to modify the coilpack to clear the cam cover? Or perhaps source a longer rubber shaft? I’ll have a look into it
Would the rubber tube from a mivec fto fit? I seem to remember that someone said their heads are taller than ours. Anyone got one of those to play with?
Andrew (who started the thread) has FTO coilpacks... I'll have to steal one from him to play with!
Afaik the mivec model has the taller heads, non mivec doesn't. I am not an expert, just info I remember from elsewhere.
Mitsubishi shogun has longer coil packs, and are about £14 a coil online, might buy one to see if it fits
