WTB iPhone obd reader and cibie headlights

    Hi
Was just wondering if there is any obd scanners you can use on 97 legnum I’ve read a few threads but end up even more confused! Lol
I’ve seen many on eBay but no idea if they work or will work! But most say they can check codes reset and do engine data etc?
Also would really like a set of cibie headlights or just aftermarket halo ones of some sort but all I can ever find is galant ones and I don’t know what ones will fit or dont fit as I know us ones do not!?
Or if anyone on here makes them I’d be interested in purchasing some
    I really like kc427s ones
Hopefully someone can help me and point me in the right directions
    Cheers guys

The legnum and Galant headlights are interchangeable - including JDM/EUDM. USDM is not direct fit however.

IF your car is an EU car (V6/2.4gdi/2.0 FWD) then a generic reader might work (they do on 2001 cars i know). If you have a VR4, then evoscan is the best option, some pro tools running many hundreds of quid also work.

Search for 'complete diagnostic error codes' and this will show you how to read all the diagnostic codes with a paper clip and the flashing arming lights on the dash.
The flashy dash method should be linked from this thread and the thread contains all the error code.

This is probably a better thread now
    Search for
    Reading the VR-4's Diagnostic Codes
    And you should find it

Ok cool thankyou for clearing that one up as I don’t know how different a galant and legnum are for parts and I always see cool headlights and stuff but always say for galant
I have the legnum vr4 so I need to search for evoscan then!
I just wanted something cheap and cheerful really that I can check stuff on my phone like diagnostics and performance
    Cheers mate

I have a connector that has been looped 1-4 that someone made when I got my legnum not sure exactly how to use it but I will definitely look at the thread
    Thankyou

Switch the ignition to ON (second click ) and plug it in, the dash will flash any stored error codes .
Both current codes and old historic code that might have been previously be fixed.
A battery disconnect will clear all the stored codes

Ok cool found codes etc thankyou! I’m still trying to get used to how this site works tbh but getting there slowly lol

But is there and like Bluetooth or Wi-fi readers that work I’ve seen an Android one connected up to their stereo before but on different car
Which had all the performance data while driving etc plus error codes and reset aswel
Would like a similar thing in mine!?
The evoscan is a separate reader if I’m not mistaken!?

Our cars are not OBD-II compatible. This is the communication protocol that all modern cars have to support, but ours are too old to require it. Therefore, no phone apps etc will work.

Flashy dash technique for fault codes is the most reliable, and EvoScan for getting some diagnostic data from the ECUs.

evscan works for data logging very well but the diagnostic code reading is still a bit hit and miss on evoscan.

if you want to read the codes use the flashy dash method always for reliability
