    I've got these:

The spring rates are a little bit high for me but then historically most members seem to prefer a stiffer ride than me!

I've got tanabe sustec coilovers I bought from Nick(above). Possibly the overly stiff ones he's talking about. You definitely notice surface changes on the motorway and some paint on the roads.

I have been using D2 coil overs for over 10 years, on my 3rd set. ( you can buy the parts individually but it usually works out cheaper just buy a full new set and pass the last set on to someone else to fix)
They are fully adjustable, preload spring etc.
My next set will be D2 I like them.
The newer ones are anodised black with purple lock rings.
You can buy different springs with different rates separately to suit your driving style.
I get them from impulse performance.

    2 cars.
One set on my first car, then the second set on my first car was put into my next car. ( moved a lot of the upgrades across when I got the new car).
I’m on the third set now.
    First set 2007-2011
Second set 2011-2015 ( moved from one car to next)
    Third set 2015- now.

So about 4 years use before a damper seal goes, ( usually front damper!), they come with a two year guarantee.

Ive had Tein Super Wagon coilovers for about 8 years, work well and never had to replace anything on them. Bonus is being able to use the optional EDFC unit to change the damper settings at a touch of a button.
I think I bought them from RHDjapan.com but not 100% sure.

I bought my first set in 2007. A rear damper failed in 2015 and I replaced the originals with the ones I linked to above.

To be fair the bodies of the teins were very rusty by then and height adjustment very awkward. I tried to clean them up in 2012 and maybe it worked a little but it wasn't ideal.
I also use a van daily so my mileage isn't very high!

Looks like I will be going with some BC ones. Any objections?

    Just a quickie!.
whichever ones you go for I believe they are all similar construction, using Steel shafts and Alloy collars and sleeves. this means they will corrode with each other and seize up.

When fitting mine new, I coat the threaded parts in copper grease before assembly, and then I coat the visible threaded parts with copper grease.
Once they are fitted and the ride height is sorted I then wrap the visible threaded parts with electric tape to stop dirt and road grime sticking to the grease, it means if you want to adjust or work on them later in the year they are clean and not seized up!.
On my last set when I assembled them, I used cheap steering gators (from a vauxhall I think) to cover the threaded shafts, and protect the copper greased threaded areas.

I use BC Racing BR. On the rear I mounted the adjusting extenders for damping control from the interior. Easy fit and no problems. I soaked the threaded parts under the collars with ceramic grease. The electric tape is a good idea. I tried heat shrink tubing, but that was too thick to fit.
