WTB ABS Sensor for front right. where to buy?

I need a front right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor.
Have tried searching internet with MR part numbers, but can only find sensors for other Mitsubishi models.

Anyone have a link or source where to buy them or has anyone used an alternative sensor from another model?

    L200 ones are like £15.
    Galant ones are like £200.

    ??

Its for post facelift hub carriers MR370908

I can see ones for various mitsibushi models from like £10 to £30 for 90% of them.

I don't think they would be available used, as any i have replaced have been so stuck in there I have had to drill them, hammer them out.

I am sure the same part must be out there as a part for a hyundai or other missy model?.

    I will keep looking.

I'm sure this has been discussed before and no one has ever found a generic replacement. I recall someone once extended the pre-facelift ones to fit later car. Good luck in your hunt.

What is the main difference between one and another Mitsubishi model and sensor? I mean electronically, resistance or reading wise? If I have to swap mine which I think I may have to I will seriously look into drilling tapping, welding making any sort of bracket that will hold a new sensor suitably to work and purchase universal waterproof connection plugs to connect it up, I just would like to know if it will be accepted by the cars and system that is all.

I believe (waits to be shot down in flames!) the only difference is the physical size and length. the hub carriers are different, so I am guessing the length of the sensor is different.

I have no idea why mitsubishi use a different sensor for each different model. I know the suspensions are different, but wouldn't it make sense and be better financially for them to design a hub carrier that would suit the same sensor? across different models?.

I am on a bit of a mission also to try and fit one of the other Mitsubishi model sensors.
The rears are available cheap from the states, £20 each, but the fronts are the issue.

I'm worried I may have damaged a front sensor trying to remove the cv joint from the knuckle, as the manual here says to remove the sensor first but it doesn't look like it's ever been removed.

I'll keep an eye on this thread incase someone comes up with a viable solution

Is it definitely the sensor? A broken reluctor ring usually gives exactly the same fault code.

    Thanks

Physically looking is the best way of checking. It is an aluminium toothed ring on the hub end of the driveshaft. The sensor looks at the teeth to calculate wheel speed.

A small crack in the ring can cause a fault, so check it carefully for signs.

Had it up on a ramp last week and the ring was actually completely loose. I did take a close look at it compared to the spare I have and didn't see any damage to it so just secured it back in place rather than replace. Took it out for a drive later that day and after about 20mins the ABS light came back on, so I'm guessing I either missed some damage when I looked at it or when it was loose it's hit the sensor and damaged that... I'm probably just going to pull the ABS fuse for now and then when I get a new sensor replace both that and the ring. So back to my original question if anyone knows where I can get a RR ABS sensor (faster than waiting 2 months for Mitsu to ship me one) please let me know

    Hi,
I am still working on this, I may have found a source for ABS sensors for our cars, I will update as soon as I have definite info.
The Rings are easy to get on a number of sites.

You can check the sensor by putting a test meter across the the terminals of the sensor. if you get a reading of between 1.0 and 1.3 then it should be ok, (BUT, it may be an intermittent break in the cable!, and may show up as ok!).

I am having some abs issues at the moment and am going through my whole system.

    cheers Louis

It should be quite a tight fit. If it is loose then I would suggest is has a hairline crack in it. I'd still consider making a small wager that your sensor is fine.

Hi, apologies for lack of updates.
I have been buying various abs sensors that I thought might fit.
I have tried 8 so far!!!( that looked liked possibles), they are about £20, some that are instantly wrong I have tried to re sell on ebay.
Unfortunately the cheap ones from various vehicles are not long enough!.
Anyhoo, latest update is, I have found one from a Hyundai that I think will physically fit in the hub carrier. It is the right orientation and looks to be the correct size. The plug is different.
I have one on the way at the moment and will update when it arrives.
The one I have ordered is £95, so I am hoping it will be correct.
I realise the length has to be exact and the diameter etc. I will also meter out the pins to check it is the same resistance etc.
And, if all good, I will change the plug for a correct one and try it out and update here.
£95 is still quite expensive, but against £200 and a new connector it is better!
More updates to come, apologies it’s taking so long, but I’m trying not to spend loads on ones that don’t fit!, cheers Louis
