2002 legnum, white smoke coming out from engine?

    Hi everyone!

    Need some help please!

White smoke coming out from engine when I started my engine.
After my mechanic checked the engine, he told me it might be the VALVE SEAL?

However, I have also heard white smoke can also be turbo problems or other engine parts....so I would like other opinions from this forum as well...because I want to make sure I will be buying the correct parts to fix my car.

Thank you for your time and please let me know your comments.

Is it coming out of the exhaust or the engine bay? Is it when idling or revving, or under load on the road? Can you post a video?

Are you losing coolant or oil? When was the car last serviced? Have you had any other work done recently? How regularly does your car get used and for what sort of trips, e.g. long/short, commuting/motorway? Have you noticed any other issues recently - fuel economy getting even worse than normal? Do have a boost gauge, and if so, have you noticed any changes? Do you have any modifications, e.g. dump valve, boost controllet, filter/exhaust changes, etc.?

If the valve seals are leaking, you'll get white smoke from the exhaust on startup and probably less so when driving. If you get white smoke when acellerating, it maybe a worn turbo.

Further details as asked by Elnevio will help to diagnose.

It looks like the white smoke is coming out from the engine bay when idling( will try to post short video)
Not sure if losing coolant or oil, have not checked.
I have not used the car for quite a while and when I use it, it is normally short trip.
Modifications: HKS EVC boost controller, AIR FLOW, EXHAUST, MINE’s ECU.
    Fuel economy remains the same.

If the smoke is rising from the engine, it's likely you have an oil leak. Usual suspect is a rocker cover gasket.

These can generate a lot of white smoke from condensation. Using it regularly for short trips is a key cause of that as the condensation doesn't get burnt off and can actually build up under the rocker covers. The breather pipe system feeds this air into the air intake and it will burn as part of the combustion process and smell like burning oil in the exhaust gases.

What condition are the downpipes in? More specifically, the flexi joint(s)? I wonder if that is split/worn and some of the exhaust gases are rising up through the engine bay.

In reality, if there's quite a bit of smoke coming out of the engine bay, it should be reasonably easy to work out the point it is being generated from.
