    Blew My Engine

    Hi all

So I just blew my engine. Drove it in water the engine took in water and connecting rods bent them selves. SO the engine is now toast ( did not want it to go this way )

I had a spare one lying with me. We changed the engine it started on first start was surprised . Here comes the problem when I am driving the car normally there are are no problem.

But when I accelerate hard 2nd gear at around 4.5K rpm the engine misfires and kind ov feels like a fuel cut. if I accelerate gradually the rpm go upto 6.5K no problem.

I have already tried replacing the injectors from the previous engine. New plugs BKR6EY-11 but still no luck.

write around the throttle body area my mechanic seemed confused when plugging in a few vacuum hoses could that cause this problem.

The plugs should be BKR6EIX, those you have are gapped to the wrong setting . They should be .8mm. I would look at those first as well as the vacuum lines

the previous plugs that i changed from were the .8mm ones and had the same issue. I read some where that the gap can be 1.1

the way the car backs of does not feel like a plug issue. Almost like a fuel cut or rev limiter

Regap the plugs to 0.8mm. 1.1mm is too large and you will be suffering from spark blow-out.

Even if you have some other problem, sort the plug gap first.

Update : gapped the plugs ... changed to another set of coils ... changed the injector set ... exact same problem

2nd gear normal pull .. no problem —0psi boost
2nd gear slightly hard pull ... no problem most of the time —- 5 psi boost
2nd gear full pedal pull ... lot of miss firing .. 7psi boost . 4.5k rpm

Every time at around 7psi boost

If I don’t let of the throttle the car stops misfiring at 5.5K rpm and keeps pulling

Unless someone else does it, I'll have a look when I'm next near my VR-4 in the next couple of days.

Looks like boost/wastegate solenoid and fuel pressure solenoid are plumbed together. Wrong!

Here you have all vacuum diagram, and do according to one:

    Update 2:

    Changed the Fuel Filter OEM,
Changed the Fuel Pump the new pump is from a toyota markx

Added a fuel pressure gauge ..

The high pressurized side ( the one which goes into the elbow and has a red marking) of the boost solenoid was not connected .. connected that back in the elbow

the problem seems to be gone but the car is now locked at 7psi does not go above that should it be this way ?

    the fuel pressure at
    IDLE : 28PSI
    CRUSEING : 30PSI
    FULL BOOST WOT : 40PSI

because the solenoid pipe was not connected does that mean that the waste gates were not opening at all and i was hitting some safety limit ?

Is your car a prefacelift auto? 7psi is around standard boost if unmodified.

Your measured fuel pressure is way to low. You are on a quick way to blew your engine again running such lean. (stock values: idle without vacuum=42 to 44psi, idle with vacum=36psi, WOT=55 to 60psi ish)
Maybe its time to consider that someone more experienced and with knowledge would take this job from now on.
