The autobox is different. It is also not a 4.11 final drive.

Also regarding your other query, I don't have any spacers in stock at the moment and I don't know when they will be back in stock. As soon as I know I will post up.

any chance you know of a cost effective way to change my ratio to something that's not so short ?

thanks that's much appreciated, do you know the part number for the longer bolts you send out, at the very least I wanna swap those out when I do the clutch, ill see if I can get some locally, cheers for the super fast reply

I have an evo 8 box (5 speed, obviously) with the VR4 4.11 final drive. It's much better but still not long enough.

    thanks Nick,
mine is ridiculous, but realistically I could live with it if I could do 75mph at a lesser rpm, Ive driven from Yorkshire to france 6 times this year, while it was an auto box the rpm was much lower, 75 is now 3650 rpm so cruising speed over the water is at 4000 rpm which is too much, I poo'd my pants having to drive from Calais to paris when it was 45 degrees c outside!
so basically I think if I could change my fifth I could live with it, I wanted to swap final drive because I thought it was easier, but its the same effort, I could do with a spare gearbox as im time limited to a weekend for my car being off the road, sadly funds don't allow!

Mine is the longest off the shelf combo. 2500 rpm in 5th is 60mph so much better than yours. But I still don't need to change down when accelerating from any cruising speed.

I think im gonna need to go your direction, the chances of me finding a cost effective 4.11 final drive is slim, do you know if theres a register where I can put gearbox codes in to find ratios, also im trying but cant seem to find gear ratios for a v6 24v gearbox I have, I haven't lost hope that theyre interchangeable, im not gonna know until I open it up and the evo box on my car

No idea on a ratio register, sorry.
The 4.11 is standard on the manual VR4 from 1996 to 2002. As to other sources I have no idea but you could try asking clive.w on the lancer register, he knows more about the W5M51 than Mitsubishi themselves.

    Hi,
See below link to MLR Register.
Put int the model number from the drop down menu, and then hit compare, and you will see the different gearing in the gearbox for each model.

No, as long as you are a registered user you just need to log in.
Once logged in, click articles, and then choose model info from the drop down menu.
